- Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group’s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.
- There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function – Fraud & Credit Decision Systems (FCDS), FCS
- FCDS under Fraud Credit services is an integrated team which is mainly responsible for the delivery and support of the risk management tools, systems and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decisioning center of expertise for multiple Account Originations/Management risk systems along with the custodians of Global collections data.
- Retail Data and Decision Systems group facilitates the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decisioning tools. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information technology team and the end users. Additionally, the team would also act as the originator of collections data for the entire group.
- The core functions include strategy deployment, data validations, process improvement, system documentation, providing consulting, guidance and delivering comprehensive risk management platforms to support risk management intelligence, analytics, MI generation, and ETL along with data management.
What you’ll do:
Job Family Classification and Description -
Decision Sciences job family is designed to cater towards all the Strategies related Decision and data needs of business. It covers sourcing of data and building structured data lakes, designing data marts generating Business Insights and hosting data in Cloud. Key responsibilities also include but not limited to creation of a robust data foundation and continuous update of these datasets, to support Analysis and reporting, identify opportunities for data monetization, leverage BI and Visualization tools to deliver key business insights and develop self-serve BI solutions to empower the business to make informed decisions. The team members embed agile delivery methodologies to continuously keep refining the data models using new and emerging techniques. This team also acts as a bridge between IT and the business stakeholders.
The job accountabilities of this role are:
- The job holder is required to ensure the provision of complete, true, and accurate analysis and report to functional management and senior executives under minimum supervision of his / her line manager, to facilitate effective decision making.
- The nature of work will require the role holder to take quick decisions in situations where complete information/data might not exist, and he/she would need to apply business knowledge & intuition to make best case recommendations.
- The role holder shall also be expected to guide and Analysts from a functional perspective and help them gain business understanding.
- In this role, the job holder will be under partial supervision and will undergo on the job training, however it is vital that the person in this role is able to learn new tasks very quickly. The role holder will be expected to execute on tasks/projects, once provided initial directional guidance.
- The role holder shall be expected to solve complex technical/business problems on his/her own without involving his/her line manager. The role holder will be expected to be responsible for thorough quality check (QC) of their own deliverables and follow the departmental QC procedures as laid down by their line managers. They will also be expected to create departmental QC guidelines & ensure their adherence by his/her functional reports.
- The role holder shall also be expected to be the primary SPOC for their assigned projects, for the business partner. In this role, they are supposed to set the correct expectations with respect to deliverables, TAT, follow ups etc. They are expected to actively manage the projects and bring to light potential roadblocks.
- Be able to execute/deliver against defined tasks. Develop new solutions/framework for the business problems.
- To be able to work independently on medium complexity tasks that would involve frequent changes to the process.
- Develop business domain knowledge and good working knowledge of tools [SAS, VBA, Qlik, R, Python, and any other BI tools & Data technologies.]
- Interfaces with business/functions to translate business requirements into executable instructions/technical.
- Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners.
- Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.
- Participate in the technical/functional sessions and ensures project results delivered on a timely manner.
- Works smoothly within the team and supports other co-workers.
- Can provide introductory training to junior teammates.

- Diagnoses underlying problems related to integrity of information deliverables. Consults with functional manager, business unit personnel, systems analysts and other end-users on issues impacting the project timelines and deliverables.

Job Description:
- Impact on the Business/Function: Support seamless implementation of Decision Systems Future State technology and services across countries; Improve Advance Analytics implementation and related process efficiencies through automation enhancement; Work on Cloud based Cognitive Decision Engine infrastructure which can support unstructured data and open-source code.
- Customers / Stakeholders: Partner with Decision Systems Global and Regional teams to support initiatives and requirements; Utilize voice of customer, feedback from the countries’ teams to improve customer experience and process execution.
- Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to conduct Change and alter communication styles as required.
- Operational Effectiveness & Control: Ensure compliance and operational risk controls are implemented or in place and adhere to Group standards and policies; Cultivate a culture of Operational Risk and control awareness.

Eligibility Criteria -
- Minimum 2+ years relevant experience. Bachelor’s/master’s degree in any of the discipline like Computer Science, IT, Operations Research, Mathematics from a reputed university or MCA from a reputed university
- Experience on Vendor Decisioning or Analytics product(s) is preferred. E.g., TRIAD , Experian Power Curve, SMg3, SAS Decision Manager, SAS Intelligent Decisioning, Viya, RTDM, Pega etc.
- Knowledge of programming tools, preferably with proficiency in any one or combination of tools such as SQL, VBA, Unix, Qlik sense, R, Python, and any other BI tools & Data technologies across any of the platform’s UNIX, mainframe, or Windows.
- Experience on Cloud, Digital Technology and Cognitive/AI platforms will be an added advantage.
- Investigative and consultancy mind with penchant for the latest technologies and continuous learn and adapt capability.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to change and changing work priorities and ability to drive results.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve agreed deadlines; work on multiple items concurrently where required. Ability to operate well across cultures and in multi-culturally diverse work environments.
- Knowledge of Code development, SDLC, Programming is a must and exposure to managing change is good to have.
- Exposure to Banking Analytics or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or related field
