The Opportunity:
- The Financial Crime Investigations is a first line of defence (LOD) function that effectively manages the financial crime risk inherent in, or arising from, the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. This is monitored by Risk Stewards who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the Group’s businesses also referred to as the second line of defence. Together they effectively manage the financial crime risk inherent in, or arising from, the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. Financial crime risk is a non-financial risk that includes fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption, sanctions violations, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, export control violations and tax evasion.
- The Financial Crime Investigations function operates in accordance with HSBC Group’s Risk Management Framework (RMF). Financial Crime Investigations focuses on the specific financial crime threats the firm faces now, and in the future, pioneering the techniques and technology that protect our business, our customers, and the many communities in which we operate, from the harms associated with financial crime. Financial Crime harnesses intelligence, analytics, technology, investigation, information sharing, and public-private partnership to achieve this end, always seeking the most effective and efficient means.
- The role holder will support the Group Senior Manager Financial Crime Investigations, Insight & Value to ensure the data from Financial Crime Investigations is presented effectively in various governance reports. This will support good working relationships with key stakeholders across first and second line of defence teams. The selected candidate will author reporting products for review within the Insight & Value team, using the data and metrics defined for investigations.
- The successful candidate will be part the Group Insight and Value team, within the CoE team in Bangalore which is a crucial part of HSBC’s Financial Crime strategy. As a member of the team, the role will support global, regional and market level Financial Crime Investigations with the following activities.
- Production of reporting packs and MI for governance & oversight forums.
- Provide approved reports and packs to key stakeholders.
- Monitor and review feedback or actions against supported reports to assess enhancements.
- Supporting awareness of Financial Crime Investigations information.
- Assist in ensuring Financial Crime teams have a good understanding of the business challenges and risks from an operational perspective.
- Ensure best practice is followed and implemented to ensure reporting successful.
- Focus on continuous improvement and simplification.
- Taking ownership of the final output of MI & packs delivered.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes, schedules or priorities within environment.
What you’ll do:
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
Outputs
- Preparing Global/ Regional/ Market MI packs for review by SME.
- Review and understand trends, calling out any anomalies.
- Issue approved reporting and coordinate questions and feedback received across Group Insight & Value team.
- Ad-hoc reporting based on the directions provided by SMEs.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
Functional Knowledge
- Candidates demonstrating the following skills and experiences will be considered (or similar) for the role.
- Previous experience in MI reporting, pack building and data extractions using dashboards (i.e. QlikView/Qliksense)
- Presentational skills using MS Office (i.e., Excel, Power Point, Word etc.)
- Sound judgment in interpreting information and data effectively to achieve the aims of deliverables (i.e., using workflows, SOPs, and guidance)
- Experience of Financial Crime Investigations is beneficial, but not essential.
- Ability to analyze large and complex data sets and provide concise summary of findings.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure with competing priorities, is essential.
- Good communication skills (strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrated by a history of writing and presenting reports).
- Team player, strong organizing, and governance skills.
