The role holder will be part of the Equities business franchise under Market Securities Services Operations (MSSO) umbrella. The business covers products in the Equity Derivative and Prime Finance areas.
The scope of the Prime Finance team in KL comprises middle office operations and includes the following activities:
- Trade validations to front office systems, cash equity/stock loan breaks, intersystem break investigation, review documentation and settlement discrepancy queries from offshore teams.
The Opportunity:
- You will be part of a task force responsible for managing post trade support activities such as intersystem break investigation, trade validations, resolve trade/settlement discrepancies and trade life cycle management The role will cover Hong Kong and European facilitated activities under HK balance sheets.
- Your main contacts will be settlement and middle office teams.
- The role will be working on Hong Kong shift with a possibility for staggered work hours.
What you’ll do:
- Provide trade support to Prime Finance front office in Hong Kong.
- Responsibilities include but not limited to trade validations to front office systems, cash equity/stock loan breaks, intersystem break investigation, review documentation and settlement discrepancy queries from offshore teams.
- Interact with Front Office Trading and Sales, Operation teams, Product Control and external counterparties to resolve trade discrepancies and escalation issues.
- Ability to apply judgment to operational situations in a fast paced environment to drive progress.
- Identify potential financial risk to the bank and ensure proper resolution is achieved within the bank’s guidelines.
- Timely escalation when necessary for issues that may cause financial loss to the bank or that could affect client relationships.
- Ensure adequate support for effective management of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), to minimise risk e.g. Nostro/Stock/inter-system breaks.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Conceptual understanding of Capital Markets.
- Understanding of Markets Operations is an added advantage.
- Has sound understanding and formal qualification of basic Operations Accounting principles.
- Able to demonstrate the mind set and maturity to operate in a fast paced environment.
- Awareness and appreciation to operations risk and control and exception management.
- Ability to implement initiatives and work as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with clients/stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a hands on approach to identify opportunities of process improvement.
- Follow formal escalation framework across all aspects of Operations, including day to day operational risks and systemic risks.
- Strong awareness and appreciation to operations risk and control and exception management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage local and international relationships across the org.
What additional skills will be good to have?
- A degree in Business or Finance would be preferred.
- Understanding of Markets Operations is an added advantage.
- Able to work in a demanding and time sensitive environment.
- Hands on experience of operations processing is an advantage.
