HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management business for Head of Private Markets – This is a GCB3 level role.
The Head of Private Market Investments is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and executing the investment strategy across private market asset classes including Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure Equity. The role involves managing high-performing teams of investment professionals, sourcing and assessing diligence of fund and co-investment opportunities, and ensuring robust risk-adjusted returns aligned with organizational objectives.
The challenges of the role can be summarised as follows:
Balancing institutional client customization with operational scalability and product standardization. Differentiating access to top-tier managers in an increasingly crowded LP landscape. Integrating technological advancements (e.g., data analytics, digital due diligence platforms) into legacy systems. Navigating the balance between long-term illiquid strategies and growing client interest in semi-liquid or evergreen solutions.

In this role you will:
· Oversee sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, and selection of private market investments including fund commitments, secondaries, and co-investments.
· Lead investment committee discussions and prepare high-quality investment recommendations.
· Maintain strong relationships with top-tier general partners and market participants
· Manage, mentor, and develop a team of investment professionals and analysts across sub-asset classes and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture with a focus on professional growth, innovation, and accountability
· Interface with the bank’s risk, legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure alignment with internal frameworks and external regulations (e.g., AIFMD, Volcker Rule, ESG mandates).
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
· Relevant Director level experience in investment management, with substantial exposure Private Market areas of Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure Equity.
· Demonstrated track record of success in fund selection, co-investments, and portfolio management particularly aligned to Institutional Clients.
· Experience in managing and mentoring investment teams.
· Commercial strong with an ability to analyse complex financial data and information and create reports and presentations for a varied audience including internal colleagues and teams and external client stakeholders
· Possess highly developed stakeholder management skills with the gravitas to engender a ‘Trusted Partner’ status across an internal and external client base.
