We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Object Engineer.

Principal Responsibilities

A Storage Engineer with Object storage experience is required within Distributed Storage to support the delivery of operation activities.

The key activities and responsibilities for the role are:

• Drive implementation of Object storage solution and evergreen projects
• Identifying service owners/planning change schedules and resources requirement for the activities
• Support review, assess and implement remediation against cyber security threats such as vulnerabilities patching
• Responsible to install and demise of object storage products
• Carry out capacity planning and drive purchase requirement for Object environment
• Delivering measurement/reports on change volumes, cadences, KPI regarding delivery
• Escalating issues that cannot be resolved in a timely and concise manner
• Work closely with different teams within HSBC
• Maintain close communication with other IT teams and coordinate IT-related stakeholder activities
• Ensure system complies with group policies and standards
• Be the agile lead of the POD and drive adoption of agile

• University-level degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field with at least 2 to 5 years of experience
• Demonstrable experience with Storage platforms in Object area (or one of the below areas - Block, File, Data Protection)
• Experience in Dell EMC ECS, NetApp StorageGrid, Veritas Enterprise Vault, OpenText InfoArchive
• Experience with AWS, GCP, MS Azure, NAS, SAN and backup would be an advantage
• Experience working within an Agile environment
• Knowledge and experience in tools like JIRA, Confluence, Ansible, would be an advantage
• Basic Server administration (Linux or Windows) and Virtualization knowledge
• Automation scripting with API (using scripting languages such as Ansible, Python etc.)
• Bridge between engineering and fulfilment by exploring and implementing automation opportunities
• Ability to quickly acquire new skills and tools
• Maintain can do attitude and stay positive towards challenges
• Being open, dependable, connected and align the HSBC values
• Ability in working under pressure and flexible in work scheduling with colleagues in different time zones
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with good command of written and spoken English
