  • The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) is a global function which works closely with Relationship Managers (RMs) to help them prepare credit proposals for Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) borrowers across the Corporate, FIG and Funds sectors. By closely managing the annual review & new requests workload and encouraging deep collaboration between CAU, RMs, Credit Risk, and Client Management, the CAU maintains a flexible operating model ensuring new business transactions are consistently prioritized effectively to exploit revenue generation.

The Opportunity:

  • We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join the CAU team in the capacity of 'Analyst/Associate/Senior Associate'. The primary responsibility of this role involves undertaking high quality industry, competitor and client level credit analysis for Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) clients of HSBC.

What you’ll do:

  • Undertake high quality industry, competitor and client level credit analysis for CIB RM Team.
  • Analyze financial documents and supplemental data to support lending decision-making and recommend credit requests to appropriately meet the business needs.
  • Prepare credit analyses in support of new and existing business relationships.
  • Support the RM team in the continuous collection, capture and analysis of key data and information related to CIB client’s emissions-intensive activities, climate commitments and low-carbon business initiatives and transition and physical risks to help build a thorough understanding of each client’s plans to transition to net zero emissions over time.
  • Personally develop and maintain strong working relationships with CIB Relationship Managers / Associates along with executives in Risk to ensure that all risks to the business, financial and non-financial, are properly recognized and thoughtfully mitigated in proposals.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role: 

  • Ensure that all work is delivered within agreed timeframes, PLAs and meets the required high-quality standard.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant policies, FIM guidelines and procedures issued by the Group.
  • Pro-actively suggest and design improvements in process workflow, where applicable.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and other parts of GBM as required.
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards.
  • Need to implement the Group Compliance Policy, as applicable to their role.
  • Need to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role, and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
  • Adhering strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; reporting weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • C.A. / CFA / MBA Finance, Economics or equivalent is essential, and any professional qualification is desirable.
  • 0 to 6 years of relevant experience in Credit Analysis.
  • Sustainability knowledge is an advantage
  • Highly proficient at Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English, proficient in credit writing in English, hard-working, organized, diligent, and above all a good team player
