The goal of the HSBC Digital Engineering Platform (DEP) is to provide a platform upon which digital services, such as Open Digital, HSBCnet, HSBC Connect platform can be built / enhanced, deployed, run, and monitored; enabling HSBC to respond to the evolving needs of our clients more efficiently while addressing the deficiencies of heritage solutions.

The Opportunity:

The Platform Engineering Lead is responsible for ensuring on-time project delivery with adherence to the Architectural, compliance and security guidelines.

Platform Engineering Lead will the face of the Platform Team for various Digital Service lines and CTO teams.

Platform Engineer Lead is not only looking into day-to-day delivery but also plan challenges / technology change.

What you’ll do: 

  • Overall Engineering activities across Platform Team.
  • Lead the Transformation programs such as Mule Migration from the Platform engineering. 
  • Lead the team of Engineers of diverse platform (on prem / Public Cloud) to deliver for projects and business services.
  • Platform Lead should have sound understanding of the various on-prem as well as Cloud Platforms and able to guide the team on day-to-day issues. 
  • Strictly promote the use of the Infrastructure as A Code approach for the platform build and enhancements.
  • Promote the Automation to Minimize the manual activities within the Platform Teams.
  • Work closely with Central CTO teams to ensure the adherence and continuous improvement in Architectural, compliance and security guidelines. 
  • To promote the platform best practices across the teams.
  • Help application / Platform teams to evaluate the new Tools and technology.
  • Ensure zero production defects in the Platform Delivery.
  • Ensure SRE team is self sufficient to handle any production incident / changes etc.
  • Assist the Application teams in their Platform related queries and asks.
  • Collaborate with Application and Architecture team for performing various PoC.
    Requirements
    • At least 8+years of Technical experience in the following Java, J2EE, Springboot, Kubernetes, MVN, SQL etc.
    • Should have development and support experience with containerized SpringBoot applications.
    • Should be familiar with HSBC Platforms.
    • Should have good understanding of API/micro services concepts.
    • Should have sound understanding of the CI/CD.
    • Strong understanding and skills on Linux, shell scripts.
    • Familiar with Public Clouds (GCP/ AWS).
    • Familiar with Kafka, Hazelcast.
    • Familiar with the API Gateway patterns and API Gateway technology such as KONG and Mule.
    • Familiar with networking and cryptography concepts.
    • Familiar with infrastructure support.
    • Familiar with databases, such as Oracle and Derby.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills and documentation skills
    • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent time management skills and strong initiative
    • Able to work independently and effectively under pressure.
    • Able to adapt in global team culture and communicate with teammate in different location.
    • University degree in a technical discipline.
    • Relevant industry certifications.

    What additional skills will be good to have? 

    • Good understanding and experience on MuleSoft / PCF.
    • Hands on experience in Kong API Gateway platform.
    • Hands on experience in Kafka.
