Department: - CTO Data Technology – Data Tech CIB HBEU

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of highly skilled data engineers and analysts through the discovery, design, build, test and BAU transition of a use-case driven projects across one or many value streams
  • Promote delivery standards, mentoring, knowledge sharing and agile principles
  • Use case ideation, documentation and prioritisation with Project Sponsors
  • Liaise with BAs to ensure that requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented. Liaise with Testers to ensure that they understand how requirements have been implemented – so that they can be effectively tested
  • Participation in regular planning and status meetings. Input to the development process through to involvement in Sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Deal with escalations from the development team and know when to escalate issue further
  • Regular RAG reporting and timely raising of emerging risks and issues
  • Monitoring project budgets to ensure that the project is completed based on an agreed forecast
  • This is a combination of Delivery + Devops Lead role. In this role, the candidate will be accountable for  the End to End delivery of key initiatives for the service and also Lead the DevSecOps practices for the Credit & Lending Delivery team within GDT.
  • Participate in Architecture, Design and Engineering reviews and provide architectural and Engineering direction to technology teams.  
  • Evaluate the implementation risks and assist in making appropriate decisions around hot fixes/Incident fixes, Releases, etc.
  • Be the face of HSBC in engagement with Vendor teams and support the HSBC teams in technical discussions with Vendor/product teams.
  • Stakeholder management : Be the Engineering face of the delivery team for wider stakeholders.
  • Proactively evaluate and assess the gaps in existing DevOps practices and develop and deliver roadmap for fixing the gaps.
  • Work with Engineering and Testing teams across all components and drive the DevOps practices.
  • Have a deep understanding of the existing applications, understand the limitations, prepare strategies for tools adoption and drive them for implementation.
  • Represent GDT Wholesale in wider engineering forums and initiatives.
  • Identify critical technical/performance problems and work on providing solutions to meet the business needs.
  • Liaise with all technical leads and work on proactive improvements of systems and processes.
  • Provide guidance and direction on best practices to be adopted by all team members.
  • Host knowledge sessions for team members on various technologies and tools to be adopted by the teams.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Around 15 years of work experience
  • Experience in leading global teams of at least 80 individuals – including perm and non-perm staff
  • Sound knowledge of agile principles and guidelines with experience of leading technology projects
  • Experience with common project management tools such as Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Office Suite
  • An understanding of big data and how data pipelines are established and maintained
  • An understanding of data assets and an awareness of common data visualization tools
  • Comfort managing project budgets of  at least $5m
  • Strong risk assessment skills to identify upcoming risks and issues to a project delivery
  • Awareness of data management such as data sharing across borders and data quality guidelines
  • A general awareness of banking products to both retail and commercial clients
  • Display a leadership complex and act as role model for all colleagues
  • Effective and clear communication to stakeholders
  • Proven track record of working under pressure and juggling multiple priorities
  • Work experience as either a technical project manager and scrum master (Preferred)
  • Project planning and resource management (Preferred)
  • Career management for permanent staff including YE reviews, appraisals etc. (Preferred)
  • An agile or project management certification such as Scrum, SAFe, Prince2 or PMP (Preferred)
  • An understanding of Hadoop architecture. (Preferred)
  • Prior experience in HSBC’s Wholesale bank would be advantageous. (Preferred)
  • An understanding of the project lifecycle from ideation to BAU. (Preferred)
