We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Loan Agency Officer.

Principal Responsibilities

This role focuses on a host of daily operational and oversight activities in relation to a book of bilateral/syndicated loans in our role as agent/sole lender/participant. This will include all operational processing, effective handling of process related queries from internal stakeholders such as Relationship Managers (RM), Finance and Origination teams, both Global Banking (GB) and Commercial Banking (CMB). To continuously provide high quality client service to achieve maximum customer satisfaction ensuring we place the client at the heart of everything we do which embraces our client centric culture.

You will be responsible for reviewing procedures and related MI as well as interpreting the information to ensure effective analysis can be performed. You will also maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of any internal and external audit points.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a loan portfolio and ensure the effective daily operations of key processes and controls in relation to deal setup, loan processing, settlement, and ongoing lifecycle events of bilateral and syndicated loans
  • Manage the daily activities around deal set up, drawdowns and amendments, carve outs, rollovers, payments and pre-payments with specific complex portfolio ownership
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on the operational aspects of the closing process (initial drawdown / fees, conditions precedent, etc.)
  • Review documentation from an operational perspective
  • Action fee settlement and billing (commitment, utilization, SBLC)
  • Work with clients and stakeholders including Borrowers, Relationship Managers, Finance, Portfolio Management, Origination teams and Client Management team within Issuer Services
  • Be fully engaged with supporting system development requirements and process improvements, looking for opportunities for improvements in both process design and control
  • Understand the operations workflow and maintain adequate records in all required systems
  • Perform timely reconciliation/ relevant reporting
  • Handle ad-hoc projects and system testing
Requirements
  • Knowledge of corporate loan product and market conventions is an advantage
  • Experience with loan agreements and APLMA language requirements applicable to operations is an advantage
  • Strong operational risk and control mindset
  • Ability to work in a pressurized environment, manage priorities effectively and achieve high standards
  • Good attention to detail and inquisitive and pragmatic mindset
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese will be an advantage
  • Loan IQ experience an advantage
