We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Product Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

The global role will manage strategic initiatives surrounding China and renminbi internationalisation (RMBI).  As a product owner for RMB clearing, the person will also develop and implement RMB embedded value propositions for corporates, ensuring alignment with HSBC and GPS strategic priorities. The incumbent will work within a matrix organization to deliver critical infrastructure, commercialisation programs, and thought leadership in the markets, serving as a key subject matter expert in a continuously evolving competitive and regulatory landscape.

In this role you will

  • Own RMB clearing infrastructure (CIPS) and lead HSBC RMB clearing business strategy through working with in-country payments product managers in order to strengthen market leading RMB clearing and settlement capabilities  
  • Lead CIPS development and enhancement projects by ensuring annual budgets in place and through maintaining trusted relationships with CIPS and HSBC project team
  • Co-own RMB nostro business development with GPS institutional sales and ICB banks coverage
  • Develop and execute annual RMBI business plan for GPS in alignment to HSBC’s RMB internationalisation strategy for being the leading international bank for RMB business worldwide
  • Proactively support businesses and countries on market intelligence and act as RMBi advisor for the evolving RMB payments landscape and diverse market development associated with currency market changes and China financial market opening
  • Collaborate with MSS, GTS and CIB businesses to develop and execute working capital propositions in order to drive global RMB adoption with RMB embedded solutions
  • Improve HSBC’s RMB propositions positioning, RMB payments market share and client’s mind share in the marketplace vis-à-vis the competition
  • Build effective network with the external markets i.e. partner organisations, industry associations, customers, competitors, and regulators in order to ensure that our strategies remain relevant and effective
Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • A university degree
  • Proven self-starter and able to work independently with minimal guidance in meeting tight deadlines 
  • Possess strong treasury and cash management management knowledge and have managed fairly large/complex projects engaging business stakeholders across the bank
  • Strong knowledge on China’s reforms, RMB Internationalisation and related regulatory developments
  • Demonstrate ability to interact, communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels and across functions
  • Fluent in English and proficient in speaking and reading Chinese (preferably in Putonghua) 
  • Good Interpersonal skills and a team player
