- HSBC Ventures is the Corporate Venture Capital arm of HSBC Group. The team was formed in 2014 to make venture-like minority investments into early stage companies that have a strategic relevance to HSBC. The team invest directly from the HSBC Balance Sheet and have made c.40+ minority investments to date.
- Investments are made on the basis of financial returns and strategic/commercial returns to HSBC’s strategy, business lines, operations, regions, products and services as appropriate.
- The role will be a resource within the HSBC Ventures team working closely with the Portfolio team
The Opportunity:
- The team is seeking a full-time Analyst to join the team to principally:
- Responsible for Quantitative and Qualitative tracking of portfolio company performance including portfolio valuations, portfolio related activities, KPIs and MI reporting.
- Support to senior investment professionals in all aspects of the investment process and provide market insights.
- Support the team in achieving key strategic goals and managing of internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
What you’ll do:
- Work on quarterly valuations work and portfolio related activities.
- Assist with MI reporting to other internal stakeholders.
- Monitor investments and help prepare valuations and strategic returns reviews
- Assist in evaluating investment opportunities as requested by team’s Investment professionals - by undertaking detailed analysis, inter alia, strategic, financial, market, commercial, management
- Work on the internal administrative processes
- Prepare market insight reports
- Assist with MI reporting to other internal stakeholders.
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for venture capital
- Experience of working in small teams with senior investment professionals
- Solid understanding of the financial markets and key trends
- Experienced in researching, analysing and presenting on industries, companies and strategy
- Experience in financial modelling and company valuations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Entrepreneurial attitude.

- Ability to communicate effectively with the stakeholders is key.
- Ability to prioritise and be responsible for aspects of the investment process
- Flexibility and enthusiasm to explore new ideas and opportunities
- Able to work under pressure and in a small team
- Good in networking and socialising opportunities widely, both internally and externally
- Attention to detail and able to work within quick turnaround times
