Job Introduction

As part of the INM COO team, the Data and Analytics team (D&A) is one of the key areas of strategic growth within INM HSBC. The team is responsible for the delivery of initiatives that translate into value to the wholesale business by increasing revenue, support the identification and management of risk and save costs by increasing efficiencies. 

This role in the D&A team will be responsible to provide data led strategic insights to business and support any Group / Region led insights initiatives. The role holder will focus on using Data & Analytics to drive business activities and outcomes that improve or transform customer experience, staff productivity, business decision process and operational effectiveness, thereby contributing towards business profitability and market share growth. The D&A team works in close collaboration with colleagues in our Global Development Centres and the local IT teams. The role will be expected to work with offshore team to support local MI and analytics initiatives.

The role will be responsible for data support in revenue/ lead generation, running a portfolio of MI and insights projects, including developing the data and technical requirements. Additionally, the role should be a catalyst for the use of D&A services within Wholesale, CMB and GB, building connections across the businesses.

Principal Responsibilities :

·       Independently run a portfolio of Internal MIS and regulatory reporting for CIB business ensuring timely delivery and quality submissions.

·       Monitor  ongoing Wholesale Data Quality (DQ) to ensure Critical Data Elements (CDE) are consistently kept updated in source systems to seamlessly deliver automated regulatory reporting and Internal MIS.

·       Maintain oversight over UCIC RBI requirement such that the wholesale book is always compliant with the requirement.

·       Develop good understanding of customer profile and attributes of wholesale business and products and various systems used.

·       Encourage and enable usage of Data Analytics for revenue growth, lead generation and risk mitigation.

·       Engage with stakeholders, business analysts and system owners to understand and deliver management reporting and analytics initiatives, translating business problems into hypotheses and then building solutions

·       Translate outcomes of analytics and data science back into business decisions and activities that meet objectives.

·       Own the end-to-end lifecycle of reporting and insight projects within key areas, working with D&A to capture demand, secure data, develop prototypes, build pilots and launch solutions

·       Identify opportunities to streamline MI and insights products including design and performance

·       Connect stakeholders with timely access to advanced data, insight and analytics products / solutions

·       Enhance collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to jointly deliver business outcomes

·       Contribute to key initiatives from local and regional Data & Analytics leadership

·       Provide technical excellence by searching out best external practice, monitoring technical and professional developments, sharing knowledge and encouraging others to do the same in the best interests of HSBC and its customers.

·       Encourage and enable constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and challenging actions and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC’s diversity policy and/or in the best interests of the business and its customers.

·       Develop and recommend changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and best market practice.

  • Demonstrate a continual desire to implement “strategic” or “optimal” solutions and where possible, avoid workarounds or short-term tactical solutions.

  • Work with multiple stakeholders and their varied objectives / purpose, manage priorities, balance resources vs demand and manage stakeholder expectations in offering / delivering a fit for purpose solution

  • Be an expert in analytical solutions as well as knowledgeable across a range of HSBC’s product and operational domains

  • Detect & reduce redundant activities and outputs (analytics or communications); optimize use of Data & Analytics resource across Group, region and country.
Requirements

Role Requirements / Education Qualifications / Certifications / Experience:

 

  • Post Graduate degree in a relevant discipline preferred

  • Familiarity with HUB, CARM, WHIRL, TREATS and various other Wholesale Systems.

  • Expertise in VBA Macros based automation, Power Platform, Python and visualisation tools e.g. Qlick Sense, Excel Slicers, Power BI reporting etc.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills

  • ·       Ability to work independently without close supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team

  • Possess +5 years of experience in data / business analytics in the financial or digital domains. Or similar experience in analytics consulting or managing digital products.

  • Proven experience in forming ‘advisory’ relationships with senior managers.

  • Strong business acumen with high ability to diagnose and articulate business problems, translate these into data and analytics requirements, and then recommend solutions for adoption and commercialisation.

  • Strong problem solving and analytics product management skills.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Eligibility Criteria

  • India Bank / INM employees will be eligible to apply to this role after completion of 12 months in the current role/position at the time of application on level transfer and/or promotion.
  • Entity Employees (not from India Bank) to be guided by their internal policy on tenure completion in current role at the time of application before applying and share line manager approval once shortlisted.
  • INM Employees in scope of WPB Career Progression Framework not eligible to apply to roles within the purview of the Framework.
