HSBC have an operations hub in Kuala Lumpur & Manila within the Global Service Centre (GSC). These support multiple products and legal entities and are responsible for various functions within the trade life cycle. Cash Equity Operations forms part of the wider Markets and Securities Services Operations and, segregated by asset class, is responsible for ensuring all equity trades booked by the front office flow through the various stages of the trade life cycle and settle successfully on value date.  All settlements for this function reside within the Kuala Lumpur (KL) and Manila GSCs with London/HK/France supporting the depot management and transaction management functions.

The Opportunity:

  • Responsible for managing the Settlement Ops,Depot  teams under new exception-aligned operating model.
  • Depot Management will be deconstructed and tasks realigned to relevant teams in both KL and Manila.
  • Transaction Tax oversight will be realigned under KL Ops within the Equity Sett Ops Control utility.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure that trades are correctly matched and settled timely in the market.
  • Ensure that risk & control framework and escalation procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure end of day checks are actioned.
  • Implement process efficiencies to improve service quality.
  • Build strong Business and Operations Management relationships.
  • Assist management in achieving overall business objectives.
  • Work in collaboration with the team to resolve issues.
  • Achieve set performance benchmark and target for each year.
  • Continuous increase of process knowledge thru cross training.
  • Engage with onshore business partners in communicating issues and/or escalations.
  • Liaise with external clients in order to resolve issues and/or answer queries.

Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • University degree is required.
  • Strong understanding of Asian & European Markets for Settlements Operations.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment with ability to support multiple functions and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a hands on approach to identify opportunities of process improvement.
  • Strong awareness and appreciation to operations risk and control and exception management.
  • Ability to implement initiatives and work as part of a team.
  • Follow formal escalation framework across all aspects of Operations, including day to day operational risks and systemic risks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage local and international relationships across the org.

What additional skills will be good to have?

  • A degree in Business or Finance would be preferred.
  • A firm understanding, supported by accreditation of LEAN and 6 Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiar working knowledge of associated technology.
  • Understanding of Markets Operations is an added advantage.
  • Able to work in a demanding and time sensitive environment.
  • Hands on experience of operations processing is an advantage.
