Global Debt Markets Derivatives Trade Processing Management is integral to HSBC’s purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in Rates & Credit trade life cycle management, with a keen focus on Trade Pricing management. Our global team of Middle Office Desk Support professionals’ partner with the business to further support on trade support tasks including Rates, Credit, Bonds, Futures and Repo, non-economic amendments, UAT testing, query management, systems feed exception monitoring and Trade Pricing management. We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Manager – Trade and Position Management Specialist. This is an Individual Contributor role with no immediate reporting lines.

The Opportunity:

What you’ll do:

  • Able to work with sales and trading to manage deals to be closed on a targeted timeframe.
  • Agile with the ability to resolve issues under tight deadlines in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Provide dedicated support to the trading desks actively across a variety of Fixed Income products, ensuring the risk is properly captured in our internal systems, acting as the primary contacts to internal and external clients on delivering quality service, independent control, operational risk safety and cost efficiency.
  • Provide appropriate input in all change initiatives, advising potential impact on the current processes, drives change management in coordination with I.T to increase automation and controls.
  • Assist in building out a global and robust set of controls in line with the GDM Control Framework to ensure the overall success of Middle Office TOM design and implementation.
  • Trade Compression support for reducing operational and counterparty risk exposures and achieve regulatory capital saving.
  • To establish trade allocation, ensuring risk is properly captured in internal systems and escalating any issues to trading and sales.
  • The responsibility to manage enterprise Pricing of trades i.e. the input, amendment and maintenance of rates/pricing to the trades.
  • Excellent product knowledge on both Vanilla & Complex securities, understands pricing flow & terminologies, impact of corporate actions etc. Understand the regulatory requirements & internal FIM policies applicable to each of the products.
  • Understands the attributes used in the reference data world & has complete knowledge of the various vendor systems such as LSEG, Bloomberg, MarkIT etc.
  • Performing all assigned activities in a timely manner and in accordance with the agreed service levels (90% being productive).
  • Ensure the regulatory framework in place is effective and properly applied to relevant trading activity. 
  • Understanding risks associated with the trade flow, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented, highlighting areas for process improvement and making the necessary suggestions to get these controls in place. 
  • Extensive interaction with trading, sales, business management, legal, credit, GM Management office, Regional COOs as well as MSS Operations and I.T. teams to resolve issues.
  • Ability to clearly articulate issues and requirements with trading and sales staff and other support functions.
  • A strong focus on minimising the Operational Risk is vital.
  • Constant drive to develop as well as improve existing controls to promote a strong governance model.
  • A strong understanding of process flows, front to back trade life cycle and product knowledge.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work on their own and without supervision, able to take the initiative and take responsibility but also show a good understanding of teamwork.
  • Ensure the escalation of all problems/risk issues within their area to the respective stakeholders and the appropriate levels of management as per escalation matrix, in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective management of risk and controls in line with the Risk Management Control Framework.
  • Promote and display risk culture in terms of behavior, ownership, leadership and awareness plus cultivate a supportive environment towards achieving risk objectives.
  • Identifying control gaps and implementing strategic steps to mitigate risk in a capacity challenging environment.
  • Continually challenge procedures, checklists and performance measures to ensure our delivery to clients are optimized.
  • Set high standards of staff motivation and leadership by maintaining a good work environment leading to a highly committed and productive team.
  • Observe all reporting requirements applicable to their role are completed timely and to a high standard.
  • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Requisitos

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • On Price Fixing, prior experience of reference data (static and pricing) for major financial hubs i.e. APAC, HBEU & HBUS is a pre-requisite.
  • Excellent knowledge of basis vendor systems i.e. LSEG, Bloomberg etc.
  • Good eye for detail & experience in managing huge data modules.
  • To ensure that the validity and accuracy of each data records on Back-office systems are verified.
  • All vendor issues are escalated in a timely manner and tracked through to resolution.
  • Act as a single point of contact for all information needed by various teams across Data Ops Pricing, onshore business management functions, etc.
  • Perform effective analysis on the projects assigned. This should include end-end view from vendor to consumer.
  • Effectively drive and manage change to achieve business goals (e.g. process improvements/changes in procedures).
  • Good knowledge on Market /Regulatory updates and impact on the process.
  • Identify areas of opportunity within different processes and recommend/build effective controls.
  • Effective vendor management & all vendor issues on the data are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Procedural changes/new initiatives are reviewed, fully communicated and implemented.
  • Ensure timely completion of EUC assessments in EIM.
  • On Desk Support, the role is critical to the business and is a significant control in highlighting trade errors immediately after trade execution. It requires someone with an exceptional attention to detail, highly energetic, excellent communication skills and who can prioritize and think creatively to resolve issues quickly for the business.
  • The role requires someone who has a detailed understanding of how an Investment Bank works (i.e. roles and responsibilities of each function) and how the different departments are engaged in the trade life cycle and the end-to-end processes.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, drive and commitment.
  • Partnership skills are essential as there will be working with other members of the team.
  • Strong resilience and aptitude in managing Front Office personnel, stakeholders and counterparts across KL, London, America, France, Hong Kong and APAC countries are preferred.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in an Investment Banking or Wholesale Banking environment with exposure in any areas within the Derivatives trade life cycle/front to back process with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Derivatives Trade Control or Desk Support role.
  • Working knowledge in Rates or Credit Derivative product, Bonds, Futures and Repo is preferred. Knowledge in Structured Derivatives such as TRS, Options and Inflation Swaps will be an added advantage.
  • Technical understanding of how trading systems operate is a pre-requisite i.e. MarkitWire, TradeWeb, Bloomberg TOM.
  • Summit, MarkitWire, TREATS & other PTS systems experience is a pre-requisite.
  • Evidence of Thought Leadership within an operational supervisory environment for global market with the ability to apply critical thinking in working group, in crisis and in day-to-day problem solving is a necessity.
  • Assertive with strong influencing skills to be able to work with the industry, global Operations, IT, Trading and Sales effectively.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, procedures and controls as well as of front to back trade lifecycle.
  • Able perform well in a fast pace and high-pressure environment against tight timelines.
  • Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office coupled with good numerical and analytical skills – be able to understand, analyze, and communicate data in a concise, logical and visually stimulating form. 
  • Strong culture of ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to learn quickly and transfer knowledge effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to speak and understand English fluently with exceptional business communication skills.
  • Ability to work in flexible hours (Night Shift/Rotation Shift) and working on Malaysian public holiday.
