Securities Services Operations:

  • Operations is split into 3 product functions, Custody (Direct Custody and Clearing, Global Custody, Securities Lending and Treasury services), Funds Services and Global Distribution and Transfer Agency. Each product function is supported by Line Control, Business Management, Transformation and Cross Product Services.  Operation is managed globally at a product function and regionally across all products (refer to org chart for management structure).

Role Purpose:

  • The Assistant Vice President (AVP) supports the day-to-day post-trade operations in Japan, covering both Custody and Broker Dealer as Third Paty Clearing (TPC) functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely settlement execution in compliance with local regulations, market standards, and our company’s internal control framework.
  • Operates across a complex infrastructures landscape involving JASDEC, BOJ, and JSCC, JDCC.
  • Acts as a key contributor within a highly experienced team, demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Expected to take initiative beyond assigned tasks, contributing to process improvements, system enhancements, and team-wide issue resolution.
  • Works closely with peers and managers, maintaining effective communication and operational continuity across a globally connected environment.
  • Although the role does not carry formal people management responsibilities, it requires behaviors and mindset aligned with future leadership potential.

Principal Accountabilities:

Operational Execution & Process Control

  • Perform daily settlement operations for domestic equity and bond markets (JASDEC, BOJ, JDCC, JSCC), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor transaction flows, identify breaks or risks, and escalate promptly.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), control reviews, and procedural improvements.
  • Document procedures and ensure process manuals are up to date.

Stakeholder & Client Interaction

  • Respond professionally to internal and external inquiries, including those from Client Services, Product, Business, Counterparties.
  • Support audit and due diligence requests with accurate and timely information.;
  • Help maintain strong working relationships with global operations and regional stakeholders.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Ensure all activities comply with internal policies, Group control standards, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in regular control testing, internal/external audits, and self-assessment exercises.
  • Proactively identify process risks, suggest mitigation actions, and escalate control weaknesses.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating operational manuals and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Contribute to the team’s control environment by modelling discipline in procedure adherence and accurate record-keeping.
Postulación
  • 5-10 years of experience in securities operations, preferably custody or broker dealer settlement.
  • Strongly familiarity with Japanese post-trade infrastructure (JASDEC, BOJ, JDCC, JSCC, PSMS)
  • Experience in control procedures, UAT, or automation initiatives preferred
  • JSDA Certified Securities Operations Representative (Must)
  • Business-level English and native-level Japanese (Must)
  • High attention to details, professional communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
  • Clear motivation to grow and take on greater responsibilities over time
