We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate, Climate Transition. 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise to support the Co-Head of Climate Change Asia Pacific, Global Head of Climate Transition, as well as other senior leaders of the Global Sustainability Function in Asia Pacific to help shape and deliver the bank’s net zero strategy including the energy transition agenda
  • Support efforts to collaborate with bankers and regional leadership to drive client outreach with energy clients and engage them on their transition plans, seeking out opportunities for the bank to finance their transition
  • Support the team in generating strategic insights to support decision making, strategic planning, risk management and business opportunities
  • Keep up to date with regulatory, policy and industry developments and engage when required with regulators, central banks and governments, think tanks, NGOs and academia
  • Support the region and group by creating presentations and data reports to provide information to help build new capabilities to incorporate energy transition risk and opportunities. This includes but not limited to, credit risk for oil and gas, power and utilities and coal-linked clients working with the Risk Function
  • Help execute the bank’s client transition plan assessment programme and work collaboratively with colleagues across the Global Sustainability Function to support the bank’s climate analytics, energy policy, investment approach and regional priorities
  • Run processes in an auditable and transparent manner with a good appreciation of controls
  • Develop and imbed continuous research into the subject of energy transition within the external market so as to provide insights and new knowledge across the team and to reporting Head
Requisitos
  • Good technical understanding of oil, gas, and power markets, as well as experience working with or developing energy and emissions models. Knowledge and experiences in these areas in the context of Asia a plus
  • Knowledge on climate change and the energy transition including low-carbon technologies, decarbonisation pathways, regulatory and policy levers, carbon budgets, science-based targets, climate analytics, and both transition and physical climate risk
  • Familiarity with a range of standards and frameworks, including the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net-Zero (GFANZ), Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Financial Services Taskforce (FSTF) and the United Nations Environment Program Net-zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) as well as major energy decarbonisation scenarios including the International Energy Agency Net-Zero Emissions Scenario (NZE), and BloombergNEF’s New Energy Outlook (NEO)
  • Demonstrated visible and tangible contribution to the energy transition and net zero emissions agenda on behalf of an organization and across the entire client value chain
  • Experience of working in a large, complex, international, and highly matrixed business environment operating across cultures
