We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Bank Channel Underwriting Head, High Net Worth and Individual Life Business.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
- Implement HSBC underwriting Policy and Principle within the Chief Underwriting Office of HSBC and ensure that business is accepted on a sound and lasting profitable basis
- Accept or authorize the acceptance of new business cases or increases to existing policies within prescribed limits of personal authority, on a sound and profitable portfolio basis
- Provides coaching and mentoring to the bank channel Underwriting team for the following
- Coordinate underwriting activities on new business, policy servicing, re-underwriting; carry out audit and review policies for compliance and internal underwriting rules; manage and oversee a team's performance on executing underwriting cases
- Liaise with reinsurer on formulation of UW guidelines and building flexibility into policy offerings to cater unique health conditions of customers
- Work closely with product team, operations and distribution team members to support with marketing or business activities
- Drive projects and underwriting initiatives inclusive of product development, digitalization, automated underwriting through rule engine and customer journey review
- Support ad-hoc projects assignments, communicate and control project progress to be met in a timely manner; and support Cross-stream underwriting activities and trainings
Requisitos
To be successful you will
- Possess a degree qualification and having professional qualification: FLMI and FALU designations will be desirable
- Previous life underwriting experience is a must, preferably in the High Net Worth market
- Hold a substantial financial sum insured authority of at least USD10m, ideally USD15m
- Solid experience in underwriting and managing Broker complex or jumbo cases including liaison with Reinsurers
- Well-developed analytical skills and strong business acumen
- Be a self-motivated, proactive self-starter with the ability and attributes to act and perform with minimal direction or instruction
- Good command of both written and oral English, good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc). Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Work beyond the boundaries of usual time and effort in meeting these expectations, creatively and innovatively in often addressing uniquely individual challenges in the High Net Worth Life Insurance market
