We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist
CIB Cloud engineering team is part of the Group Data Strategy to transform the way we use Cloud in HSBC.
The group originated within the Markets & Securities Services department and has recently moved to be part of the overall CTO function responsible for CIB cloud. Our mission is to help teams within CIB transition their workloads onto the cloud. Whether this be public cloud providers like GCP, AWS or Ali or the internal cloud. We predominantly work with GCP as this is the public cloud provider of choice for MSS, but we do have teams using AWS and Ali
In this role, you will:
As a member of the project management team within the CIB Cloud team you will be responsible for helping teams transition onto the cloud and helping them through the processes to be on-boarded. In addition, ensuring that once transitioned onto the cloud the team remains compliant with the cloud governance processes. Knowledge of cloud architectures and HSBC’s processes for operating in the cloud is a key skill. In addition, having strong communication skills and able to work with teams globally. The role also involves data analysis through creating reports (mainly using SQL) and presenting the results of the analysis to the cloud community.
As a technical project manager within the CIB Cloud team your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the HSBC EHC process and guiding teams through this process.
- Ensuring teams operating in the cloud conform to the HSBC governance process. Identifying areas where teams are in violation of the governance process and guiding them through the process of fixing their violations
- Analysing the costs and usage of the cloud and producing reports using SQL and reporting tools to highlight areas of concern
- Presenting results of analysis to cloud teams to guide them through improvements
- Work with teams globally.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong knowledge and experience of delivering Cloud computing projects
- Base experience of project management
- Exposure to Agile Project methodology but also with exposure to other methodologies (such as Kanban)
- Coordination between Onsite and Offshore
- Excellent understanding of the financial services industry, ideally investment banking business
- Understanding of data modelling techniques using relational and non-relational techniques
- Understanding or experience of Cloud design patterns
Essential Skills:
- Cloud Technologies
- Sound knowledge of finance, accounting and business management tools and processes
- Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient in data analysis and visualisation
- Understanding of infrastructure management and application design / development
- Ability to work with minimal supervision on own initiative and on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision making skills across business and IT
- Strong team-working skills, working in global teams across multiple time zones
- Identify issues, communicate them and assist in their resolution.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing project team methodology and performance.
- Needs to be a Self-starter, proactive, self learning
Ideal Experience
- Proficient in SQL and reporting tools.
- IT Industry experience – at least 8+ years
- 2+ years using cloud development tools / python
- Experience in some planning and finance processes like budgeting, forecasting and billing
- Experience is developing and supporting IT business cases
- Agile and DevOps experience – at least 2+ years
- Project planning.
- Google Cloud Platform, or other cloud vendor
- Certified Cloud Architect or other cloud certification
