In this role, you will:
HSBC is seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as a Software Development Manager. You will be responsible for leading the design and development of enterprise-scale technology platforms while driving digital transformation initiatives and modernizing legacy systems. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert and solution designer for complex technology platforms, interfacing with senior stakeholders across the organization. You will also implement technology roadmaps and architectural strategies that are aligned with HSBC's business objectives, demonstrating technical leadership and ensuring the delivery of mission-critical banking applications with excellence.
Overall Accountabilities
· Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of enterprise-scale technology platforms, drive digital transformation and modernization of legacy systems, and act as a subject matter expert and solution designer for complex technology platforms, interfacing with senior stakeholders.
· Roadmap & Strategy Implementation: Implement technology roadmaps and architectural strategies aligning with HSBC's business objectives, demonstrating technical leadership in impact analysis, design, development, testing automation, and implementation.
· Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, product owners, and architecture teams.
· Delivery Excellence: Participate in the end-to-end software development lifecycle for mission-critical banking applications, ensuring compliance with HSBC's risk management frameworks, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Modern Practices Adoption: Adopt modern development practices including DevOps, cloud technologies, and automation.
· Program Management: Effectively manage complex, multi-year transformation programs with clear milestone delivery.
What you’ll do:

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
Education
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Experience
· Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in technology delivery and system development.
· Extensive experience in financial services or a highly regulated industry environment.
Technical Skill
· Expert proficiency in Java, Python, and modern programming languages.
· Deep experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture.
· Strong background and proficiency in enterprise databases, API development, and system integration.
· Advanced knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
Language
· Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Cultural Fit
· Understand Chinese business environment and familiar with cross-location, multiculture collaboration in an international organisation.
