We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a  Director, Digital Currencies.

Job Profile

Lead and manage product development and management for digital asset and currency (DACs) initiaitves, working across HSBC but with a dedicated focus on Wholesale. Includes strategy, products, services, governance and other deliverables. This role plays a pivotal part in driving our business and product strategy around Digital Assets and Currencies across our Institutional segments. Director, Digital Currencies is the product lead and subject matter expert for the subject in these segments.

Key Requirements

  1. Work with colleagues across Global Payment Solutions, and where necessary other parts of HSBC, to define strategy, projects and deliverables for Digital Currencies.
  2. Work to ensure that HSBC understands relevant Digital Currencies industry and policy developments in this segment, contributes to shaping them, and is seen as a thought leader for the development for Digital Currencies.
  3. Ensure that any Digital Currencies products abide by internal (policy) and external (regulatory) obligations, and work with the second line of defence (2LoD) to actively shape HSBC’s DACs policies and procedures. 
  4. Lead thinking on Digital Currencies design choices, ensuring that realistic and valuable products are designed. 
  5. Define and deliver Digital Currencies products for the bank’s customers.
  6. Following product delivery, manage the product working closely with the respective business teams to successfully execute product strategies.
  7. Work with colleagues and teams across businesses, technology and digital functions to further our Digital Currencies agenda.
  8. Work with third party firms to help achieve goals and manage relationships with these firms, including fintechs, established vendors, and partners.
  9. Working closely with commercial teams, ensure that our Digital Currencies offer is appealing and well understood by our customers. 
  10. Work to ensure that HSBC’s DACs strategy is known and well explained to all relevant stakeholders.
  11. Provide insights into product, technology, and market trends, as well as identifying opportunities for further growth.
  12. Continuously conduct research on digital assets products and new features, identify potential trends, updates, or changes in the sector, and keep teams informed about these changes and potential application scenarios within our services.
  13. Conceptualize, track, and report on product KPIs, assess the impact of features, and share results and insights throughout the organization.
  14. Externally represent HSBC in front of regulators, clients, digital assets ecosystem to position HSBC as a thought leader and innovator, in the furtherance of the DAC strategy.
Requisitos
  1. Proven experience in regulated Digital Currencies, with a track record of successful digital product launches and management.
  2. Proven track record of being part of and managing high-performing agile teams.
  3. Preferably possessing strong knowledge of digital assets, along with how it may apply to a banking context.
  4. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to drive teams towards strategic goals.
  5. Effective communicator who can work with multi-jurisdictional, cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams.
  6. Strong and effective relationships with stakeholders which includes senior leadership.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking capabilities in ambiguity and can “figure things out”.
  8. Attention to detail, organised yet comfortable with ambiguity, with a flexible mindset to work under a fast-paced business and market environment.
  9. Resourceful and results-oriented, open to find a way to get things done without sacrificing quality and integrity. No task is off limits.
  10. Having a strong growth mindset and operate with an open mind, constantly thinking about how things can improve.

Knowledge and Experience

  1. Scrappy get-it-done mindset with a hunger to tackle complicated and impactful business problems.
  2. Knowledge of market trends, new technologies and Fintech products.
  3. Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and logical structuring abilities.
  4. Ability to work with international teams across multiple time zones and continents. 
  5. Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction.
  6. Demonstrated experience in working with senior executives in matrix organization, delivering performance improvement and quality results.
  7. Strong financial management and business management advisory skills.
  8. Customer-focused with ability to pay attention to details and ensure tasks are completed on time at required levels of quality especially when under pressure and tight deadlines.
  9. Advanced level of documentation skills through MS Excel, PowerPoint or other software.
  10. Understanding of HSBC Value and HSBC Group systems - GPDM, TM1, Clarity, GMIS, Pioneer & Employee Central is a plus.

Role Attributes

Experience: Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within multiple disciplines or a fast changing discipline

Business / Commercial knowledge: The role requires a comprehensive understanding of several value units / products / regions / legal entities, alongside an advanced understanding of the industry and the relative positioning of the HSBC's products and services.

Problem Solving: Covers a wide range of diverse activities that require complex judgements and solutions based on conceptual thought and strategic vision and analysis

Innovation: Is proactive in developing ideas, continuously searching for improvements in techniques which add value to the business and has full responsibility for implementation.

Accountability / decision making: Latitude to make decisions within the value unit / region / product / legal entity strategy guidelines.  There is direction from the long-term business goals with few or no policies to direct how the role should work.

Strategic Responsibility: Implements business plans through own team and is accountable for results.
