The Business QA Lead role will play a leadership role within cross functional teams from the Business QA discipline, the role will be responsible and accountable within the Pod/team for the QA and test activities in relation to exploring the software from both a technical, staff and customer perspective in order to ensure maximum quality is achieved. This will include leading coordinating QA and test activities, defining the testing scope, providing any required metrics, and collaborating with other members of the team participating in the sizing and planning of sprint deliverables. This includes contributing to the definition of requirements from a QA & Test perspective, following the Behaviour Driven Development methodology and will require collaboration with other stakeholders inside and outside of WPB to ensure the quality of the deliverable to our customers.


What you’ll do
    • Be accountable for ensuring effective tests to cover requirements and customer behaviour to ensure defects are caught and do not make it through to live, including the mapping of these tests to requirements, e.g. writing test scripts from requirements or inputting into BDD tests and/or automation scripts where applicable.
    • Support the delivery production line (development, testing and implementation) ensuring digital and front facing deliverables meet business requirements and are fit for purpose to release to customers.
    • Manage of testing activity/resources across the project, owning and progressing the resolution of day-to-day issues that may block progress e.g. blocking defects / environment issues.
    • Raise concerns for any future/forward planning tasks e.g. resource constraints, downtime, late delivery etc.
    • Proactively utilize appropriate industry tools relevant to your project needs to streamline process and make efficiencies. 
    • Manage all QA who are working alongside you on the project and their day-to-day activities. 
    • Define test scenarios and approaches, working with business teams to understand their requirements. 
    • Act as a QA business SME to others and maintain good relationships, both internal and external to the Bank as a representative of the QA discipline as well as identify of key risks, issues and interdependencies and providing appropriate mitigation strategies or escalating as appropriate to manager. 


What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Excellent knowledge of the testing process, digital / Staff channels, and customer expectations.
    • Excellent relationship management skills to satisfy a wide range of internal and external customers with conflicting priorities.
    • Excellent knowledge of the Agile development methodology and experience of working using these techniques as well as working knowledge of test tools such as Jira and Confluence with ability to provide project reporting. 
    • ISTQB qualification desirable but not essential.
    • Pragmatic decision-making skills, with the ability to make clear judgments based on a range of factors, e.g. risk, customer experience and people to determine the implications and make recommendations as needed.
    • Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Exploratory Quality Assurance (QA) Tester / Test Coordinator is desirable but not essential.
    • People leadership experience – motivating and inspiring others to excel. 
    • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, to explain complex issues and high levels of resilience and self-motivation with the ability to approach things differently to deliver goals.
