Within Finance, Treasury is responsible for managing the bank’s balance sheet across businesses interfacing with regulators and senior business stakeholders to ensure the bank remains liquid, sufficiently capitalised and profitable. What you’ll do
- As a full team member of the HSBC Continental Europe (HBCE) Treasury function, you will be integrated in the Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP) team under the responsibility of the Resolution Lead. You will work with the team to ensure the compliance of HBCE with the requirements stemming from the Single Resolution Board (SRB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) in the areas of recovery and resolution. You will contribute to the application of the bank’s Treasury strategy and communicating its impacts towards the business lines.
- Manage regulatory affairs on resolution planning, stemming mainly from the Single Resolution Board (SRB), national resolution authorities ACPR, BaFin, and the European Central Bank: address regulatory requests from the regulators on resolution planning topics, actively engage with businesses and functions across the bank (finance, company secretariat, risks, legal department, communication, human resources) to build and enhance the resolvability activities, and coordinate regulatory queries with concerned stakeholders.
- Prepare the supporting package of the regular Recovery and Resolution Steering Committee, to the activities of Treasury and Asset, Liability and Capital Management Team (ALCM) and the ALCO Committee, the writing of reports and supporting note for senior management.
- Participate in the preparation of regulatory reporting returns like LDR, CIR, CFR and final submission to the regulators like SRB/ECB/PRA, in line with all business lines, global functions, financial accounting and regulatory reporting and policy.
- Participate to the development of the resolution plan and the resolution strategy for HBCE, which would be applied in case of the bank’s failure or a near-failure situation. This may involve contributing to the development of resolution capabilities including Liquidity and Funding in Resolution, loss absorbing capacity, write-down and conversion of instruments, operational continuity of services in resolution, access to financial market infrastructures and governance in resolution.
- Support the Recovery plan preparation, which foresees management actions to allow the recovery of the bank in case of a severe financial stress.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Minimum 5 years relevant financial control experience including statutory, treasury reporting and regulatory reporting.
- IFRS, Finrep reporting, regulatory reporting expertise and knowledge – to help drive explain and comment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance with strong technical accounting and reporting skills and qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, etc.) or equivalent academic background with minimum 8-10 years of experience.
- Several years of managing and positively engaging large financial teams, servicing multiple entities and engagement with multiple stakeholders across Region.
- Drive effective teamwork, engagement and collaboration across Finance Control teams and business stakeholders.
- Track record of leading change in the context of complex environment.
- Ability to manage multiple and, at times, conflicting objectives, prioritising effectively, ability to influence at senior levels across functions, geographies and businesses, ability to identify and implement change and challenge the status quo. Proven experience of driving positive change in the team.
- Experience facing off to Senior Stakeholders from businesses, functions and Change teams.
