The Financial Crime (FC) Function is a Second line of defence (LOD) function that includes "Risk Stewards" who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD" or “FLOD"). The FC Function also operates a set of critical controls on behalf of the Group’s businesses (FLOD) by harnessing intelligence, analytics, technology, detection and investigation. The Risk Stewards are responsible for reviewing and challenging all the activities of the the First LOD to ensure that, as “Risk Owners", they effectively manage the FC risk inherent in, or arising from, the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. FC risk is a non-financial risk that includes fraud, money laundering, bribery and corruption, sanctions violations, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, export control violations and tax evasion. The FC function operates in accordance with HSBC Group’s Risk Management Framework (RMF).

The Investigative Tooling - Investigator Tool Product Owner will enable effective and efficient operations as part of the Investigations sub value stream through the design, development, and operation of an industry-leading set of tools. The role is a key architecture and capability building role with a broad remit and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

What you’ll do
    • Maximising the effectiveness of investigators through implementing an outstandnig capability to collate and present Transactional data to support the FC investigations process. The ability to review timely, complete and accurate Transactional data is a critical element of FC risk determination.
    • Working with Business stakeholders, help define and implement innovative tooling to review and analyse volumous and wide ranging data sets within the Investigator Tool.
    • Develop and deepen partnerships with our Data Providers to ensure a seamless and fully accountable service to our FC investigators.
    • Defining and managing the roadmap for the delivery and integration of Investigator Tool capabilities that will continue to evolve and expand across the FC Investigative landscape.
    • Ensuring the professional delivery of technology investment to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, security and cost-profile of investigation.
    • Ensure business and technology system processes are consistent and fit for purpose for a new generation of case management tools.
    • Understand and work in conjunction with the wider investigations toolset, as well as detection, ensuring capabilities are complementary and integrate as required.
    • Fostering healthy relationships and interacting effectively with Detection, Digitial Enablement, Digital Business Services (DBS), Information Technology (IT), technology firms, security and regulatory agencies, and financial intelligence units as appropriate. Actively shaping the future regulatory landscape through appropriate information sharing, furtherance of public-private partnerships, and training initiatives across different jurisdictions.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Proven ability in leading and building teams to deliver business and technology change in a highly complex and global environment
    • Proven experience in defining strategies, product roadmaps and managing their subsequent implementation
    • Excellent knowledge of the FinCrime domain, as well as a deep understanding of Invesitgations processes
    • Ability to shape the definition of technology change based on a defined business outcome
    • Ability to prioritise investment decisions internal to the case management domain
    • Proven ability to influence change in and outside the span of direct control
    • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with senior managers at all levels
    • A background in understanding operational risk is desirable. Knowledge of a range of technical and non-technical areas is essential while machine learning and AI techniques is desirable
