The GCIO Chief Control Office (CCO) team plays an important role in enabling the bank to operate within its risk appetite by ensuring efficient and effective risk and control management. We do this by providing operational risk and control expertise, specialist technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the businesses and functions we serve.
Key activities include implementation and oversight of the Group’s Risk Management Framework, ongoing and targeted controls assessments, implementing and maintaining robust risk governance, and championing a proactive risk culture. GCIO CCO works closely with partners across all lines of defence and is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with our regulators and external partners.
What you’ll do
- Lead the design and continuous enhancement of risk and control governance for CIB & HBEU Technology.
- Coordinate governance submissions into GCIO and CIB Business functions
- Coordinate issues management hygiene across the CIB & HBEU Technology
- Present complex risk information clearly to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Provide expert advice and challenge to ensure effective risk and control management.
- Support the GCIO CCO operating model, including toolkits, procedures, and service delivery.
- Identify regulatory trends and ensure alignment with external expectations.
- Lead and develop a team of Control Managers, fostering collaboration and a strong risk culture.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technology or cyber risk control, operational risk, or related domains.
- Strong background in managing non-financial risk within IT, Risk, Audit, or Operations.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and communicate complex issues clearly.
- Experience in regulated industries, preferably financial services.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and delivering results.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in global, cross-functional teams and matrix environments.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISA, CISSP, CRISC) are a strong asset.
