The GCIO Chief Control Office plays a key role in ensuring the bank operates within its risk tolerances and appetite by embedding effective risk and control management across GCIO. This role sits within the GCIO CCO Governance & Frameworks area and is responsible for providing governance, oversight, and execution of risk and control management processes across the GCIO organisation, evolving a culture of continuous and consistent risk management. The Senior Control Manager, GCIO CCO, Governance & Frameworks will drive governance responses, residual risk management, and cross-functional risk initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal frameworks.
What you’ll do
- Act as trusted advisor for senior management within remit area on how to accurately manage their operational risk i.e., risk assessments, control environment, issues management.
- Support the delivery of the CIB & HBEU Tech risk & controls agenda through engaging and partnership with stakeholders across all three LODs
- Promote accountable risk and control decision-making based on quality data and commercial analysis, actively challenging poor, inefficient or excessive controls, related tasks and behaviours.
- Provide specialist risk and control knowledge and insights, leading efforts to continuously improve the control environment and monitoring of risk, including behaviours
- Advise and design process and controls in a commercially viable, practical and effective manner.
- Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment.
- Influence and shape the development and implementation of future-fit risk management and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide Senior Management with updates on any relevant changes to policy or projects related to operational risk that have an impact on their area of responsibility.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Proven experience in a technology risk/audit/control or other related role with strong technology and technology controls knowledge i.e. architecture, platforms, resilience.
- Markets experience/exposure is key with a good understanding of the products used in this business area.
- Previous experience of identifying, defining and solving problems that have impact on your work or the wider business.
- Proven track record of increasing business performance i.e. developing, aligning and translating strategies & plans to achieve business and functional goals.
- Strong communication skills to influence and challenge stakeholders. Ability to present complex issues expertly and concisely to senior partners using non-technical language.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills in English.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Flexible and adaptable, able to handle and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Active industry recognized certificates will be an asset, e.g. CISA, CISSP, CRISC, CCSP etc.
