Your career opportunity
The PMO Manager will lead portfolio governance, investment management, performance reporting and cost optimisation across GTS Trade value streams. The role enables senior decision-making by providing clear insight on delivery progress, benefits realisation, financial performance and adherence to HSBC’s change governance and transformation standards.

What you’ll do
    • Own and run PMO and governance routines across the portfolio, ensuring consistent standards, cadence and quality of delivery reporting. Act as a key guardian of the HSBC Global Business Transformation Framework, ensuring portfolio and programme/project teams follow required governance, controls and artefacts.
    • Lead portfolio control effectiveness through automated and manual monitoring (e.g., milestones, RAID, dependencies, financials, resourcing, benefits). Ensure compliance with programme governance and reporting requirements for internal and external stakeholders (including audit-ready documentation).
    • Manage closure activities including post-implementation reviews, handover, benefits tracking and quality assurance. Lead and develop AI initiatives designed to drive portfolio efficiencies.
    • Drive cost optimisation across all sub-value streams by: Setting cost optimisation targets with IT partners and relevant stakeholders. Evaluating and adjusting Financial Resource Plans (FRPs) versus optimisation benefits. Interlocking plans with relevant P&L owners to ensure alignment to business outcomes and financial accountability. Track delivery against financial and non-financial targets, highlighting variances, root causes and corrective actions.
    • Support Book if Work (CIPP) end-to-end, coordinating inputs, timelines, governance and approvals across global and regional stakeholders. Construct robust business cases for co-design opportunities within value streams, partnering with functions and stakeholders to define scope, costs, benefits, risks and delivery approach.
    • Support GTS reporting of KPIs, OKRs and benefits realisation for transformation programmes, providing clear, decision-ready insight for senior management. Facilitate strategic prioritisation by surfacing trade-offs, capacity constraints, dependencies and value/benefit impact. Produce high-quality papers, presentations and communications for senior forums under tight deadlines.
    • Participate in relevant forums and committees to represent Trade Transformation.
    • Build strong collaboration across business, technology and functions; proactively manage stakeholder expectations and resolve delivery friction.

What you need to have to succeed in this role
    • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in PMO, portfolio, programme and/or project management on complex, multi-country/regional change initiatives.
    • Excellent knowledge of change/transformation delivery (functional and operational), including governance, controls, benefits and financial management.
    • Demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced environment, including agile delivery contexts.
    • Proven ability to solve business problems using data-driven insights; strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Track record of delivering against financial and non-financial targets, with clear evidence of benefits realisation discipline.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing executive-ready packs and leading meetings in English via video/teleconference.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior and executive levels and drive collaboration across boundaries.
    • Ability to work independently, proactively and with sound judgement under strict deadlines.
    • Experience leading PMO teams or units is an advantage. Qualifications/certifications such as Agile, PMP or MSP are advantageous.
