This role will be within the Digital Identity Sub Value Stream (DI SVS). DI SVS is focused on identifying and working with some of the most interesting external vendors from around the world to provide cutting edge products to the wider bank and our more than 40 million global customers.
One of our most strategic products is a global Digital Identity Validation & Authentication service that provides any market with the ability to verify a person’s identity, via an API integration. We partner with a selection of third-party vendors to deliver real time identity and anti-impersonation checks as part of a digital journey.
Our product enables customer to capture their government issued identity document (including passport, driver’s license, national ID card) and verifies the document’s authenticity. This is then combined with fully digital anti-impersonation check.
What you’ll do
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and public cloud technologies• Contribute to infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation• Implement automated testing including unit tests (Spock), integration tests (Cucumber), and contract tests (PACT)• Support CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance in Groovy• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture planning sessions• Work within an agile team using XP practices to deliver high-quality software• Continuously improve code quality, performance, and team practices
What you need to have to succeed in this role
• Solid experience with Java and backend development in cloud-based environments (AWS serverless or other public clouds)• Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs• Some experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)• Understanding of BDD/TDD methodologies and experience writing automated tests• Ability to work effectively in Agile environments and cross-functional teams• Exposure to front-end technologies (JavaScript, React, Android, iOS) is a plus, though not required• Good verbal and written English communication skills
