HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) is a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Within CIB, Securities Services provides robust and reliable solutions that help clients mitigate risk and enhance their business performance. Working with institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, governments, and multinational corporations, this team covers fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing, and corporate trust and loan agency services. 

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Global Head of SSv NFR, Funds Administration and Trustee.

Role Purpose

A senior leadership role overseeing the risk and control framework with global responsibility of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) for Funds Administration and Trustee within Securities Services to include:

  • Lead the Securities Services (‘SSv’) Non-Financial Risk (‘NFR’) function across Funds Administration and Trustee, operating within the 1LoD, alongside Securities Services COO and in partnership with the respective Risk & Control Owners and Risk Stewards
  • Provide strong oversight and challenge through subject matter expertise relating to our Funds Administration and Trustee business front to back
  • Proactive risk management to prevent issues
  • Act as a Trusted Advisor and enable business stakeholders providing co-ordination, advice, independent challenge and assessment in relation to risk and control related activities and exposures, including regulatory and audit activities
  • Drive capability in a product and change management focused risk team building expertise and specialisms in emerging areas (such as digital capabilities and resilience risk)
  • Executing activities in line with the Group Risk Management Framework (RMF). This will involve working closely with key business and other stakeholders in the following key areas:
    • RMF Policy & Assurance – To understand and interpret all RMF requirements (and changes thereto) and to provide on-going assurance regarding global adherence with requirements;
    • FIM Policy – To understand group Policy Framework and to manage and oversee the cascade and adoption of any changes;
    • Governance & Reporting – To oversee, support and deliver fit for purpose risk governance arrangements and related reporting (and other ad-hoc reporting as required);
    • Establishing risk appetite and continually monitoring for Funds Administration and Trustee globally.
    • Assurance & Monitoring – To design, manage and deliver suitable risk-based assurance activity (KRI monitoring and Thematic Reviews);
    • Incident/Issue Management – To assist business stakeholders in the identification, escalation and remediation of material risk incidents, events or issues including helping define and drive remedial action;
    • Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) – To deliver a dynamic, on-going update and reporting of the SSv RCA, based on all relevant risk triggers;

Key Accountabilities

Lead & Direct

  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships across SSv, technology, operations and other supporting functions
  • Act as a senior leader of the SSv NFR function, contributing to the direction and coordination of risk management activities across SSv
  • Provide commercially based monitoring of risks, services and processes against agreed internal standards/appetite and external requirements
  • Collaborating with the Team of trusted advisers for senior management within remit area on how to accurately manage their risk i.e. risk assessments, control environment, issues management, supporting product development and change execution
  • As a member of the NFR business risk management team, contribute to the broader strategy and performance of the global function

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Support the NFR and SSv senior management in ensuring the appropriate risk and control structure is in place and that risks that have been highlighted are managed appropriately
  • Ensure succinct and concise communication of risk matters across SSv, Markets & Securities Services (‘MSS’), the Global Functions and other relevant areas of the bank
  • Provide consistent internal and external benchmarking, where appropriate.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Oversee the execution of the Risk Management Framework across Funds Administration and Trustee
  • Chair, coordinate and attend critical Risk & Control and business governance committees/forums and ensure that the agenda effectively covers critical SSv risks and issues
  • Regularly support the broader NFR function by supporting the SSv NFR head in reviewing teams’ priorities, activities, structure and resources, optimally aligning to business needs and risk appetite
  • Cost-effectively minimize the likelihood and impact of disruption by ensuring that the business can continue to meet at the expectations of customers, counterparties, regulators and other stakeholders
  • Implement supporting strategies, policies and procedures to ensure that operational (and other) risks are managed closely and effectively, in a commercially sensitive and practical manner
  • Drive to ensure that the business risk profile, and any related issues/impacts, are established, understood by the business and the appropriate actions (and/or risk acceptance) have been put in place to manage within appetite and continually reduce as appropriate.
Requisitos

Experience

  • Extensive understanding of the Funds Administration and Trustee (or equivalent product) including both front to back design and execution coupled with a broad Knowledge and experience of SSv industry an additional benefit
  • Experience in Business Management, Audit or Risk/Control roles in Global Financial Institution a benefit
  • Data driven and focused mindset
  • Well-developed leadership and people management skills
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and interpretation skills to enhance standards, policies and controls
  • Broad knowledge of the external environment (regulatory, political, competitors etc.)
