We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of BR Risk Analytics.

Business: GCOO

Role Purpose:

The role holder will lead the Risk Analytics team within GCOO Business Risk, as part of the wider Business Risk & Resilience function.

The role holder will be a critical within the BR Function with direct accountability for key services including GCOO and bank-wide risk and control data analytics, reporting and management insights. This function is based in Hyderabad.

The purpose of the BR function is to enable colleagues within GCOO and across HSBC to deliver safe and secure services to all our customers, colleagues and the Bank itself. This will be achieved by:

  • Enforcing robust risk governance and ensuring all stakeholders have visibility of key risks and any remediation activity.
  • Partner and advise on setting, communicating and monitoring risk appetite in line with business requirements, including appropriate support and challenge.
  • Conducting high quality and efficient reviews of our control performance.
  • Facilitating controls remediation where required.
  • Raising awareness and understanding of risks, controls and risk management.
  • Continuously improving the control and monitoring of risk, including behaviours.
  • Embedding the Bank’s Risk Management Framework.
  • Transforming the tools and processes in line with the requirements of the DBS business.

The role holder will establish strategic dialogue with GCOO EXCO to understand their requirements. They will solve these needs by providing the solutions through the risk analytics function.

The role holder will be responsible for global risk data insight activity supporting BRR including, but not limited to controls data and insights associated with BRR, shared services, procurement including real estate and third-party management and transformation. In addition, the team provides services bank-wide including IWPB, People and GCCOO.  

The role holder will be expected to demonstrate the ability to lead and strategically transform the global BR Risk Analytics team to a value based, and outcome focused way of working, including driving cultural change across to driver strong integrated risk management across BR.

The role will lead appropriate automation and tooling for risk analytics and will lead the AI approach for BR and partnering across the GB/GI BRR/CCO functions to lead the wider BRR bank-wide strategy on AI.

The role holder will also act as a site lead for BR in Hyderabad, to ensure the overall team wellbeing and provide on the ground leadership where required.

Governance and Committee Memberships:

  • Local Governance Committees as part of the role as the Local Entity lead for GCOO and other teams in India.

Principal responsibilities:

Strategy Definition:

  • Drive and own strategy to enable high performance across BR Risk Analytics team.

  • Drive a Business Partnering approach to ensure a close understanding of individual business requirements and providing customized strategies that align to overall Group objectives and actively support individual and business specific needs on an end-to-end basis.

  • Understand and implement GCOO strategy by partnering with GCOO EXCO.

Execution:

  • Deliver end-to-end delivery of BR Risk Analytics to all stakeholders in accordance with agreed service catalogue & SLAs and which enhance BRR and GCOO’s reputation across HSBC.

  • Deliver services in accordance with regulatory and internal governance requirements.

  • Collaborate across GCOO identifying and delivering opportunities to continually transform, reduce complexity and duplication.

Risk Management and Controls:

  • The role holder will continually reassess operational risks and likelihood of operational risk occurring. This will be achieved by reviewing risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, or as identified by the GCOO BR, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and impact of new processes.

  • The role holder will be responsible for developing relevant analytics and management insights strategy.

  • The role holder will have significant experience and understanding of the use of data and innovative technology to provide insights to control functions.

  • The role holder addresses any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department. The jobholder is also expected to adhere to programme governance standards to minimize the likelihood of operational risk.

  • The role holder will adopt the Group Compliance Policy by escalating any identified compliance risk in liaison with, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.

Customers / Stakeholders:

External Stakeholders:

  • Support engagement the BR leadership team to understand current and future regulatory requirements related to GCOO BRR.

Internal Stakeholders:

  • Engage with stakeholders across the Global GCOO BRR Leadership team, GCOO and Group Businesses, Group Functions and Entities to ensure their BR Services needs are met.

  • Develop strong relationships with GCOO Functions, Group Functions, Entities and GCOO leadership to be able to effectively deliver the BR Services they require.

  • Manage internal customer experience, analyzing root causes of dissatisfaction and/or SLA breaches, and putting in place actions to address these.

  • Address regulatory findings to deadlines through a disciplined programme focused on business and customer outcomes.

Leadership & Teamwork:

Leadership:

  • Define responsibilities for BR Risk Analytics team in conjunction with Head of BR including developing capability within team.

  • Define core delivery targets for team and ensure team deliver on commitments made.

  • Contribute to the overall GCOO Strategy to drive increased value to GCOO BR.

  • Work closely and effectively with risk domain heads, sourcing, service delivery teams and operational risk leads to deliver clear and reportable solutions for third party management and its associated controls.

Team Management:

  • Oversight for a total of c30 FTEs and manage directly 5-6 FTEs.

  • Implement Group performance management & reward strategies to balance growth of a sustainable business with allocation of reward aligned to responsible risk management.

  • Role model for inclusive behaviors and actively manage poor performers or behaviors.

  • Track record of developing diverse talent and multi skilled teams that work together to deliver results.

 

Requisitos
  • Expertise in use of data to maximize MI & Reporting and insights to aid in risk management.

  • Expertise in tools and testing methodology.

  • Ability to develop trusted adviser status with key BRR stakeholders through SME expertise, industry experience and track record; ability to understand desired Business outcomes across the matrix and ability to translate in to well communicated and clearly articulated strategies.

  • Leadership in driving change and transformation programmes through a Global organization – both to own teams and structures and jointly with the Business through supporting and delivering changing workplace strategies.

  • Track record of building insight capability to improve quality and efficiency data used.

  • Prior experience of working in a global matrixed organization is essential.

  • Qualification in key data and risk management is highly desirable. Knowledge and understanding of the HSBC Group organization is desirable.
