We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Business Management and Platform, HK.

Role Summary:

HSBC Private Banking (PB) aspires to be the leading Private Bank in Asia, Middle East and the UK. We provide trusted advice that enables wealth entrepreneurs and families to achieve their goals through our investment expertise and global network.

The  Head of Business Management and Platform, HK is a strategic partner to the PB HK Market Head and the ASP PB COO, responsible for driving operational excellence, business performance, and strategic execution in PBHK and wider HK business. The role ensures robust governance, effective risk management, and alignment with global Private Banking standards, while enabling growth through scalable infrastructure, efficient processes, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1.     Business & Strategic Management

  • Support the PB HK Market Head and work closely with the global and regional COO function to translate the PB strategy into execution within the risk appetite set by PB
  • Ensure alignment with the HSBC HK business in terms of strategy and escalation of key matters
  • Drive implementation of global and regional strategic priorities, including growth initiatives, business transformation, and digitization efforts e.g. leading the development and execution of innovative solutions to meet needs of our clients and the rapidly changing technology landscape
  • Lead regional business planning, forecasting, and performance tracking across direct and indirect cost in collaboration with business CAO and Finance and other service providers (e.g., Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Risk, HR, Finance)

2.     Operational Excellence & Efficiency

  • Ensure delivery of efficient, compliant, and client-centric operations
  • Oversee front-to-back processes, ensuring continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and service-level excellence
  • Manage cost discipline and productivity programs across the region
  • Responsible for designing and maintaining PB business target operating model, organizational design and all related processes
  • Act as location lead for non-client matters (e.g., infrastructure, regulatory liaison)

3.     Transformation & Change

  • Accountable for combined transformation strategy oversight, planning, governance and Agile ways of operating across the PB HK Change The Bank portfolio
  • Manage Transformation delivery for PB in the HK Market and to ensure transformation initiatives are fully embedded, creating sustainable change
  • Responsible for working with Operations to ensure platforms  development and roll out in HK delivers the intended strategic outcomes
  • Identify emerging trends and technologies, leading innovation projects, and evaluating performance to drive continuous improvement and capture opportunities created by AI, regtech, and fintech innovation.

4.     Governance & Risk

  • Act as a risk owner/delegate for PB HK Market Head for financial crime, legal risk, regulatory compliance, resilience risk
  • Serve as the key control partner for the business, ensuring adherence to regulatory, conduct, and operational risk frameworks
  • Support business heads in delivering key regulatory responsibilities, including Consumer Duty, oversight of regulatory licensing, and accreditation as part of the training and competency framework for frontline staff
  • Assist the PB HK Market Head in their obligations
  • Oversee Non Financial Risk Management, Client Lifecycle Management, Financial Crime Management, Conduct & Sales Quality, Data Governance, etc.
  • Chair or coordinate key governance forums (e.g., HK ManCo, Business Risk Committees, Location Oversight Committees)
  • Oversee audits, risk reviews, and regulatory exams

5.     People

  • Partner with HR and Business Heads on workforce planning, hiring plans, and talent initiatives
  • Oversee all staff communications
  • Manage headcount and location strategy, ensuring alignment with business requirements and capacity
  • Develop and deliver employee engagement initiatives, feedback loops, and well-being efforts

6.     Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as an interface between front office and infrastructure teams (e.g., Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Risk, HR, Finance)
  • Coordinate with global and regional COO offices on standards, policies, and key change programs
  • Collaborate with external partners, managing intellectual property, and driving innovation initiatives aligned with organizational goals for long-term success
Requisitos

Experience:

  • Extensive years of experience in Private Banking / Wealth Management, with significant exposure to COO-type roles or business management
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, operational risk, and front-to-back processes in Private Banking
  • Proven track record in leading complex projects, managing senior stakeholders, and driving transformation
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Focus on delivering to high standards and quality with the ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility for own action
  • Extensive leadership and management experience with a proven track record of managing big and diverse teams across different locations
