We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Head of Credit Solutions Innovation Banking Hong Kong.
The Role:
The Head of Credit Solutions leads a team of dedicated corporate financiers focused on providing lending to institutionally-backed innovation companies and investors under the HSBC Innovation Banking franchise across Hong Kong and mainland China.
You are responsible for all revenue, profitability and portfolio management activities in relation to Innovation Banking lending; originating, structuring, executing and monitoring debt transactions that are within HSBC risk appetite parameters. The team is a core tenet of HSBC Innovation Banking, working in close collaboration with Innovation Banking Portfolio Company Coverage and Global Fund Banking Coverage teams in Hong Kong and mainland China to drive enhanced value for customers and the bank.
You will set the vision and strategy for the team – constantly thinking ahead to ensure growth can be sustainably delivered and risk suitably managed. You will be accountable for the development and delivery of best practice with regards to credit support and portfolio management. You will set the tone, develop and embed consistent culture across the team, managing (or indirectly coach) a team of Directors, Vice Presidents and Associates responsible for managing all aspects of lending/credit for a range of business models and industry sectors, setting goals and managing team workload. You will provide guidance and oversight for the lending portfolio and pipeline for HSBC Innovation Banking. The roleholder is responsible for developing the skills and expertise of the team, including the development and retention of top talent for HSBC Innovation Banking. You will lead the development and delivery of insights on loan types and credit/performance trends in sectors/sub-sectors, foster seamless working relationships across vertical and horizontal teams.
The role encompasses and has the following principal responsibilities:
- Oversee the structuring, underwriting & closing of credit solutions HSBC Innovation Banking clients in Hong Kong. This includes allocation of the right resources and providing expert guidance across the business as well as direct engagement as appropriate in debt opportunities.
- Oversee portfolio management. This includes allocation of resources, maintaining credit quality and profitability targets, direct engagement in situations
- Strengthen strategic relationships with key executives and influencers in the ecosystem
- Manage a team, providing oversight and guidance, managing workload for the teams, driving skills and career development for individuals, ensuring the development and retention of top talent, and delivering on scalability initiatives
- Responsible for ensuring the team are focusing on delivering HSBC Innovation Banking’s objectives through collaboration with appropriate business units and through measured risk taking
- Remain abreast of market, sector and competitive trends, developing and delivering insights and points of view on loan types and credit / performance trends as well as opportunities to innovate our solutions
- Build and maintain strong alignment amongst internal stakeholders locally and globally for approaches to credit within stages and sectors. Foster strong relationships across entire horizontal team to optimize outcomes and scalability
Requisitos
Requirements (Skills/experience):
The candidate should have the following experience:
- Well-established network and knowledge of the innovation economy landscape, relationship with external clients, key stakeholders, professional service providers and relevant government agencies are highly desirable
- Strong understanding of the core CIB products and how they are evolving to support innovation economy clients
- Strong credit assessment and analytical capabilities for lending to cash burning, asset light counterparties
- Understanding of new economy client behaviors and the associated opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills applicable through written, spoken, workshops and presentation channels
- Ability to set and manage own agenda, while ensuring alignment with stakeholder priorities
- Significant years of relevant experience in banking, with a focus on corporate finance / debt structuring, preferably with HK / China market and innovation economy company coverage experience
- Previous people and team management experience, with an ability to coach and develop less experienced staff members
- Language skills in spoken and written Mandarin and Cantonese is an advantage. Excellent spoken and written English are essential.
