Role purpose:

Location : Pune and Hyderabad

Reporting into the Head of CTO Data Technology, the Head of Data Technology IWPB and HSBC UK will have accountabilities for all IWPB data technologies, as well as deliveries of wider data technologies that benefit the IWPB business and HSBC UK.  The role holder will be accountable for strategic technology planning, transformation execution and budget delivery with the business. 

The role holder will be accountable for the full lifecycle of IWPB data technology services to fulfill the data use case and regulatory requirements, and data technology service delivery to the IWPB business and HSBC UK.  This includes the strategic design, build quality and service uptime metrics.  The role holder will govern the data applications to Group data standards and help the business and markets adopt Groupwide data capabilities & and associated tooling to solve complex and ambiguous problems across multiple markets. 

The role holder will lead the team to build the core and common reusable data technology components required across multiple value streams to deliver excellent results to difficult problems across multiple functions and geographies. They will require building engineering excellence within the team, collaboration with the business, and deliver against a strategic operating plan that ensures resources, including capability, people and funding, can improve current customer journeys, and deliver new features and compelling distinctly native services. 

Accountable for global implementation of IWPB data and wider data initiatives within the Group Data Strategy by working with global, regional and business and tech leads to provide optimised global services adjusted to address business demand solutions. 

It is also imperative for the role holder to drive simplification of the data technology landscape through the partnership with business to modernize strategic applications and demise non-strategic ones in line with the Data Future State Architecture (FSA). 
The primary business stakeholders for this role are the Head of Data and Analytics IWPB, Data Analytics Office and COO of HSBC UK.  The primary technology stakeholders for this role are CIO IWPB and CIO HSBC UK. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Be accountable for the full lifecycle of IWPB data technology services globally, and the delivery of data technology services to HSBC UK.  This includes strategic design, build quality and service uptime metrics 
  • Drive engineering excellence and the delivery of digital solutions to help the business achieve data standardization and adoption
    Drive Digital Acceleration Program (DAP) agenda through the demise of non-strategic applications and govern against Data Future State Architecture 
  • Commercialize data technology capabilities in line with the business agenda of IWPB and HSBC UK.
  • Define, develop and practically implement state-of-the-art strategies to solving complex and ambiguous problems using modern set of technology platforms across multiple markets. 
  • Build a great engineering team that delivers excellent results to difficult problems across multiple functions and geographies. 
  • Deliver against a digital first strategic operating plan that ensures resources (capability, people & funding) deliver improvements in current customer journeys, new features and compelling distinctly native services. 
  • Provide thought leadership for all resources through Senior Managers across multiple markets. 
  • Design, develop and implement state-of-the-art approaches to solving complex and ambiguous problems using modern set of technology platforms, delivery disciplines and devops mindset 
  • Accountable for global implementation of initiatives, working with global and regional and business / service lines leads / Technology functions leads to provide optimised global services adjusted to address regional needs. 
  • Manage the annual budget spread between designing and developing new services (Change The Bank) as well as managing and supporting existing services (Run the Bank). 
  • Enabling reduced operational cost, ensuring headcount distribution is optimal to deliver business value at optimal cost, and reduced RTB cost to optimise CTB, without impact to resilience and controls.
Requisitos

Essential Experience:

  • Outstanding Technology leader who is passionate about driving the business agenda 
  • 20+ years of hands-on experience in leading and influencing global technology teams in HSBC or in a matrix financial organization with a similar scale
  • Regional experience in leading and influencing global technology teams in HSBC or in a matrix financial organization with a similar scale will be a plus.
  • Deep subject matter expertise to lead diverse teams across global functions, with strong people leadership, teamwork, gathering information and analyzing, judgment and decision making, communication competencies
  • Understanding of and experience with emerging data technologies
  • Solid data technology delivery record in global capacity, as well as full literacy to articulate key technology trends (e.g. Data & AI) and regulatory expectations (e.g. Data Privacy & Localization) in context of HSBC
  • Strong understanding of operational effectiveness and strong number drive 
  • Leading and directing executive and non-executive work groups and effecting change through people 
  • Keen understanding of products, services and underlying processes to fulfill Strong Commercial Orientation, ability in balancing risks vs. rewards and maximizing the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business 
  • Respectful of different cultures, working with colleagues from across all 5 regions (North America, LATAM, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and their impact on service and change delivery
  • Experience with service level management, incident management and change management 
  • Experience with IT automation tools and DevSecOps practices and technologies
