We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of GPS Ops Transformation

The Opportunity:

As the Global Head of Transformation for GPS Operations, you will be responsible for leading a high-impact, strategic transformation program that drive the modernization and optimization of our global payment processing capabilities. You will directly influence the operational future of our bank, driving innovation and positioning us as a leader in the financial services industry. This is a senior role requiring a seasoned transformational leader with extensive experience in driving large-scale, complex transformations across multiple geographies.

What you’ll do:

The role holder will be expected to:

  • Global Change Strategy and Execution: Define and execute end-to-end transformation of the bank's global Payments Operations, delivering a forward-looking strategy that enhances efficiency, reduces risk, and meets the evolving demands of our clients and regulatory bodies and aligns with the bank's global business priorities and future vision
    Innovate & Digitize: Lead the integration of cutting-edge technologies and digital solutions to enhance payments operations, ensuring the bank remains a market leader in delivering seamless, secure, and scalable payment solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive collaboration between Global Businesses, technology teams, compliance, and external partners to ensure the alignment and success of the transformation initiatives. You will foster a culture of shared responsibility and excellence across all functions.
    Senior Stakeholder Management: Serve as a member of the GPS Operations ExCo, influencing senior leaders across the bank on the strategic direction of the transformation. You will be the primary driver in ensuring that the GPS Operations transformation program aligns with the bank's overall growth objectives.
  • Execution Excellence: Oversee the planning, delivery, and monitoring of complex transformation programs, ensuring that they meet key milestones, deliver measurable impact, and generate sustainable value.
  • Financial & Operational Performance: Manage the transformation budget, ensuring that resources are optimally allocated and that the program delivers financial and operational improvements across global operations.
  • Global Governance & Risk Management: Implement robust governance frameworks to ensure that transformation initiatives are executed in line with regulatory requirements and risk management standards. Your leadership will ensure that all changes strengthen our global operational resilience.
  • Organizational Change Leadership: Act as a champion of change, inspiring and engaging senior management and global teams to embrace the transformation journey. You will lead the cultural shift required to make this transformation successful and sustainable

Principal responsibilities:

Transformation Leadership:

  • Leadership & Talent Development: Lead and inspire a global team of senior leaders and experts, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the right capabilities are in place to drive transformation.
  • Customer-Centric Innovation: Drive innovation focused on enhancing customer experience in payments, ensuring that new processes and technologies align with customer needs and expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for leading a mixed team of professional change and transformation practitioners
  • Accountable for building a credible book of work across GPS Operations, consisting of both Ops-led and Value-Stream led change activity and adhering to the roles and responsibilities outlined for Operations within the Value Stream operating model.
  • Accountable for ensuring end to end design, orchestration and execution to meet strategic aims
  • Accountable for ensuring complementary nature and appropriate sequencing of investments from Ops CTB (change the bank) alongside those of Tech Vision27 and the LoBs own CTB books, where they all articulate impact to some aspect of the same E2E journey.
  • Accountable for delivery of the business cost benefit cases attached to your Transformation
  • Accountable for the communication effectiveness of your portfolio across Global & Regional matrix
  • Accountable for ensuring a customer centric approach to Transformation agenda is achieved.
  • Accountable to stakeholders, sponsors for all reporting and visibility of programme performance
  • Accountable for making complex business wide decisions to achieve maximum return on investment
  • Accountable for quality assuring plans, readiness, delivery certainty and sponsor certainty
  • Accountable as a leader in OT (operations transformation) for the strategy, plans, priorities and outcomes of OT as a function
  • Accountable for the development and capability uplift of OT as part of OT leadership team
  • Accountable for ensuring all transformation programmes deliver in line with HSBC policies and controls
  • Accountable for ensuring all methods, tools, techniques, processes and controls are actively utiliised
  • Accountable for involvement in DevOps, Agile and Solutions collaboration for your programmes
  • Accountable for selecting the right methods, approach and controls to achieve the results
  • Accountable for deploying right skills, with right competencies to right programmes
  • Accountable for input into financial, strategic planning and annual operating plan of OT
  • Accountable for acting as champion of domain knowledge, developing protocols, agreeing engagement

Operational Performance:

  • Manage all aspects of performance of your portfolio, the OT team, resources and third parties.
  • Identify and influence stakeholders to maximize opportunities, create step change outcomes and benefits.
  • Effectively manage costs and budgets in line with agreed targets and achieve committed results.
  • Ensure all services meet quality, design and service standards agreed and enable transformation results.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, constraints and escalate as necessary whilst maintaining ownership.
  • Ensure that the OT team resources are aware and comply with Group policies, procedures, regulations.
  • Manage global virtual team of OT resources assigned and drive successful performance results.

Capability & People Development:

  • Promote an open, connected and dependable work culture within OT based on HSBC Values of respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with peers in the OT leadership team.
  • Communicate Group and OT strategy to the OT teams and ensure people’s objectives are aligned.

Requisitos
  • Deep domain knowledge of GPS front to back across Business, Tech and Operations.
  • Having existing senior stakeholder relationships across the GPS front to back will be an added advantage.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Transformation – functionally, operationally and financially.
  • Outstanding understanding of HSBC Group structures, processes and objectives.
  • Very strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
  • Preferably familiarity with Group applications and IT architecture that supports the GPS customer journeys, as well as automation technology, process engineering and business architecture principles.

Experience

  • Proven track record of delivery end to end strategic programmes of Transformation.
  • Experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the group with proven network across domains.
  • Strong analytical background and proven ability in analytical rigour, including being able to contextualise data into business activities and conclusions.
  • Proven track record of leading large programme teams directly and indirectly across local and remote environments.
  • Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments.
  • Proven ability in successfully designing and implementing large-scale, complex global change initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Evidence of successfully managing financial plans with proven track record of optimising transformation orchestration to achieve results.
  • Successful experience developing and retaining critical talent and building an effective leadership team in multifaceted environments.
  • Extensive vendor and third party professional supplier management including oversight of supply chains for transformation delivery.
  • Extensive stakeholder management skills, managing and satisfying multiple stakeholders and perspectives in a fluid and changing environment.
  • Strong presentation skills and influencing senior executives at Board level internally and externally.

  • Outstanding relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills especially at Senior Director level 0 - 3 in the HSBC hierarchy.
