ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Impact on the Business

1) Ensure HSBC provides a first class H&S risk management control process within the Market to minimise accidents to employees, customers, visitors, contractors and the general public, and as a consequence raises the profile of H&S management across HSBC within the country.

2)Together with the Market CS team assess and document H&S risks and based on this to develop & then manage a Market H&S action plan.

3)Provide professional advice, training & communications to ensure that employees at all levels understand their responsibilities and help them to conduct their activities in a safe manner.

4)Identify all local H&S legislative requirements & ensure that the requirements are complied with and any non-compliance is remedied through the country action plan.

5)Ensure an appropriate H&S audit and inspection programme is implemented to ensure that Group & Market H&S standards, policies and regulatory requirements are met.

6)Together with the Market CS team measure and report on KPIs & KCIs set by Group H&S.

7)Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported to the H&S Manager in Region in accordance with the incident reporting requirements. Assist the H&S Manager in Region with the investigation of all major incidents or serious accidents.

8)Assess the need for resources to implement the H&S action plan, providing support to branch or subsidiary H&S coordinators or representatives.

9)Ensure a process for two-way H&S communication is put in place with forums where relevant to ensure continued employee awareness. Ensure that a regular communication process is implemented to keep relevant parties updated on progress with H&S plans.

10)Participate in region-wide H&S activities and support other local Markets where H&S resources may be inadequate as part of professional development.

11) Ensure all third parties meet / follow HSBC H&S practices (e.g. risk assessment; method statement; permit to work etc.); they are managed effectively; and that they provide a consistent and compliant first class H&S service.

12)Ensure all new buildings / new refurbishment work meets Group H&S standards and 6 monthly building assessments are performed.

13)Ensure compliance to all the H&S mandatory procedures and pro-actively look for gaps to create management action plan 

 

2. Customers / Stakeholders

1)Provide H&S consultancy and problem solving when required.

2)Manage key third parties in their support of the H&S requirements.

3)Interaction with Market CS team with regards to H&S requirements and incidents.

 

3. Leadership & Teamwork

1)Ensure that a Market risk assessment and Market action plan is in place covering: H&S policy requirements; local legal requirements; identified H&S risks and issues (H&S MSIIs, audit points).

2)Apply for H&S related dispensations when required.

 

4. Operational Effectiveness & Control

1)Ensure that compliance with local H&S legal requirements, local H&S codes of practice and HSBC H&S policy is achieved across the country and such compliance is documented and made available to the oversight 1/2/3 LoD(Lines of Defense) team.

2)Implement an effective risk assessment process across the country which both looks at H&S risk in each building but also looks at major H&S hazards - e.g. natural hazards (earthquakes etc.), contractor safety, out of work event safety.

3)Collate H&S reports, incident statistics and KPI for their country and submit to Region and 1/2/3 LoD to agreed timescales. Ensure any regulatory H&S reporting is achieved.

Requisitos

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

1.Appropriate health & safety qualification at NEBOSH Diploma (UK) equivalent or degree level.

2.Full membership of recognised professional safety body.

3.Has experience of ensuring compliance to a recognised safety standard e.g. OHSAS 18001.

4.Has experience / evidence of establishing health and safety strategy and managing health & safety in a similar size of organisation, with geographic coverage and a high brand value.

5.Has demonstrated the ability to improve health & safety compliance / reduce health & safety incidents within a significant business and across multiple locations.

6.Strong collaboration and networking abilities to effectively work with / achieve change through colleagues in regional functions; colleagues in countries (even if not part of CS or having conflicting agendas); and third parties providing services to CS where such services have H&S implications.

7.Proactive, energetic/ enthusiastic, team player. Able to work under pressure to ensure adequate H&S compliance and performance.

8.Able to be both resilient in a dynamic and constantly changing regional environment, where H&S legislation and enforcement standards vary enormously especially within emerging markets.
