Global Communications is part of our People, Governance and Communications (PG&C) structure. This team designs and implements communications strategies to support HSBC’s business objectives in line with our values, and enhance and protect our reputation among key stakeholders. 

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Internal Communications Manager.

Role Purpose:

The Consultant is a member of the Internal Communications team, with responsibility for contributing to and supporting both Asia and Middle East (AME) and global internal communications plans, projects, policies and campaigns linked to HSBC’s strategy, purpose and transformation agenda. The role holder will work as part of an integrated, flexible team that uses agile and traditional working methods to support a wide range programmes and initiatives.

The role holder is expected to be proactive, have strong project management and good generalist internal communications skills, with the desire to constantly build new capabilities and enhance their knowledge. They have responsibility for delivering a portfolio of ongoing and project-based assignments, including communications planning, content creation, providing communications consultancy to stakeholders, developing and managing channels and supporting change and transformation. This role will be based in Malaysia and be part of the Editorial Centre of Excellence within Communications, Business and Markets.

Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders:

  • Support the development and implementation of internal communications plans and activities supporting HSBC’s global purpose, strategy and business priorities.
  • Support the planning and delivery of global and AME campaigns, including key messages, collateral and measurement.
  • Use insight to support roll-out and successful outcomes for regional and global internal campaigns
  • Support the development of innovative new internal communications products, techniques and channels.
  • Contribute to development and management of global communications channels including digital workplace (intranet, mobile, internal social media) as well as leader and manager communications.
  • Support organisational change and business transformation through strategic communications support
  • Use measurement and insight (including employee engagement data) to inform activities and ensure focus on business outcomes.
  • Consider the external implications of implementing employee communications campaigns and projects and collaborate with media relations colleagues on external messages to mitigate risks

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Adopt agile team ways of working to ensure collaborative, outcomes-focused approach to delivering multiple global and Asia Pacific projects and campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the entire Global Communications function, particularly Group Reputation and Global Business communications teams, to ensure seamless delivery of priority programmes.
  • Engage with the global Internal Communications network to ensure effective collaboration and delivery for global projects and campaigns.
  • Work closely with key champions, advocates and colleagues to facilitate execution of communication plans.
  • Keep up-to-date with latest employee communications research, techniques and approaches, and network externally with peers.
  • Deliver consistent and high quality communications in line with strategic goals.

Requisitos
  • The role requires a sound understanding of a value unit / product / region / legal entity, alongside a good understanding of the industry and the challenges and changes in the sector.
  • Covers a wide range of activities that require evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated perhaps novel situations.
  • Seeks ways of improving and adapting day to day departmental activities and will actively seek authority to implement them.
  • Latitude to make decisions outside of established procedures but within a policy framework.  Broad guidelines are available.  Role implements strategy set by others.
  • Implements business plans through own team and is accountable for results.
  • The role requires an extremely high level of interactive listening, in order to negotiate with others often at the highest level.
  • The role requires the ability to negotiate and influence within their team with a high level of influence.
