We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Lead Technical Specialist.

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of IBM Z mainframe systems and storage technology to ensure high availability and performance
• Develop and implement resilience strategies, including disaster recovery plans, high-availability configurations, and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime
• Lead a team of mainframe engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement proactive measures to prevent system failures
• Design and maintain robust backup and recovery processes for z/OS and DS8000 environments to ensure data integrity and business continuity
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain the operations of the mainframe ecosystem. Manage system upgrades, patches, and migrations while maintaining strict adherence to security and compliance standards
• Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve system resilience. Conduct regular risk assessments and resilience audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical incidents and coordinate rapid response to system outages or performance issues

To be successful you will need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• Experience managing IBM mainframe z/OS systems, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proven track record of designing and implementing resilience strategies, such as disaster recovery and high-availability solutions
• Strong knowledge of z/OS system administration and problem diagnosis.
• Extensive expertise in DS8000 and tape storage technology, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting. Experience with mainframe infrastructure software (e.g.,JES2, SMPE, RACF, CA1, SMS, GDPS, etc)
• Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., REXX, CLIST) and scripting for mainframe environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on proactive risk management and system optimization
• Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders
• Ability to work under pressure and provide effective solutions during critical system incidents
