We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Legal Manager (36 months - Fixed Term Contract).

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

  • Support HSBC Insurance business in Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR in its ambitious growth - Business include the manufacturing and distribution of life and health insurance, distribution of general insurance products by the Bank, as well as health and wellness propositions and services
  • Provide professional, commercially sound and pragmatic legal advice, guidance and oversight to ensure legal, reputational and other material risks are managed and mitigated
  • Review and advise on routine business activities such as manufacture and distribution of insurance products, including product materials, sales process, cross border and other restrictions, agency and broker distribution documents, reinsurance treaties plus the relevant risks assessments
  • Advise on and support strategic projects, investment and corporate matters.  Independently manage and advise such projects/matters, such as HSBC Insurance’s investment in a wide array of investment products and structures (e.g. feeder fund, investment agreements)
  • Identify new legal and regulatory developments that can affect business activities, and advise business teams on how these developments may affect their business
  • Ensure senior Legal Management is briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes in area of expertise
  • Maintain professional working relationship with stakeholders in the Business and the legal function
  • Lead and manage external counsel on matters in a cost-effective manner
Requisitos

To be successful you will need

  • Qualified lawyer with experience in insurance or wealth management, as well as investment.  Knowledge in corporate and digital platforms are preferred.  Proficiency in Chinese language is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in working in an international insurer or other related financial services institutions
  • Strong team player and a collaborative teammate – to work with the local and global insurance legal teams and other legal teams such as Hong Kong and International Wealth and Personal Banking and other specialist legal teams, and other functions including regulatory compliance
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently with an entrepreneurial drive.  Apply good commercial and legal judgment, take responsibility and accountability when advising
  • Ability to operate in dynamic and fluid situations, and to handle a diverse range of issues under unexpected situations, and the ability to prioritize competing assignments.  Able to work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and inter-personal skills
