We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering

HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Markets and Securities Services is an emerging markets-led and financing-focused business that provides tailored financial solutions to major government, corporate and institutional clients worldwide. The role is within CIB MSS Technology – a department of HSBC Technology Services (HTS) - providing IT application development and support services to Business and IT teams within HSBC CIB.
In particular, The HTS CIB Tech Tools, Metrics & Controls Team (CIB Tech TMC) falls under the MSS Tech Service Management and Infrastructure Delivery function, providing 24*5 development, enhancement and support for a number of Tools and integrations used across the CIB Technology organisation.

In this role, you will:

• Under direction from the TMC India-based Head of Business Insights, interface with support and development teams across all asset classes. You will be engaged in a senior technical role responsible for the strategy, architecture, planning, design, implementation, evolution and maintenance of the TMC Business Insights (BI) landscape focussed on Qlik Sense technology.
• In the Qlik BI and Analytics domain, take responsibility for the execution of tactical and strategic projects that deliver change for the CIB Tech organisation. 
• End-to-end responsibility for the efficient sourcing, transformation and delivery of insights through Qlik technology, working with other team members to ensure efficient ETL and data models to support this aim.
• Improve and evolve our capability for rapid and Continual Delivery in the Qlik space while meeting required controls through automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Continual improvement of the TMC’s Qlik-based BI and Analysis capabilities, with focus on efficiency, performance, scalability, data distribution and the end user experience while processing significant volumes of data.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members in the BI and Analytic space and direct their activities as required in support of key initiatives or projects.
• Work dependably and efficiently in a demanding environment with the ability to balance support (business as usual) activity against the needs of development and project work.
• You will require excellent communication skills, interfacing with IT staff over a wide range of seniorities. A high proficiency in verbal, listening and written English is crucial.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Given the seniority of the role, the candidate requires an excellent level of proficiency and experience in the technical capabilities outlined below, and should have a proven ability to take full independent responsibility for the coordination and delivery of complicated projects in the BI and Data Analytics space. It is also expected that the candidate has a good grounding in technology in general with the ability to support the platform through automation and integration with other technologies and systems.

Primary Technical skills:

• End-to-end expertise in Qlik technology (especially Qlik Sense). A thorough understanding of efficient design, sourcing, transformation and delivery of scalable data models and scripting in Qlik technology to provide a high standard user experience.
• Awareness of Qlik integration capabilities for interoperability with other platforms and automation.
• A good knowledge of the underlying Qlik architecture and platform administration with an understanding of how to structure efficient and scalable data gathering and presentation designs.
• Proven experience in relational database query design and efficient data modelling in one or more of the industry leading RDBMS systems.
• Full understanding of the Qlik data presentation capabilities with a knowledge of current and effective patterns for the end user experience.

Additional / Secondary / Desirable Technical skills:

• Alternative database or data storage technologies outside of RDBMS (e.g. NoSQL).
• Awareness of other / competing Business Insights technologies and how they compare to Qlik.
• IT Development and collaboration tools (Git/Bitbucket; Jira; Confluence; etc).
• CI/CD and/or Pipeline automation - especially in the domain of Qlik technology.
• Database and systems administration, optimisation and tuning
• Experience with *Nix operating systems and shell scripting.
• Solid grasp of IT Security and Application Development best practice.
• Industry cloud frameworks (GCP; AWS; Azure).
• Other scripting or development languages (Python, Shell, Perl, etc).
• A drive for self and team skills improvement - staying on top of current/latest technology and practices.
• A willingness to provide occasional out of hours support or cover as needs require.
