What you will do:
The role holder is responsible for design, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the risk and compliance frameworks for HSBC Investment Funds (Luxembourg) SA and its Branches activities in Ireland and United Arabs Emirates (UAE). This role covers both UCITS and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), ensuring adherence to all applicable local, EU, MENA region regulations and international regulations, as well as HSBC Group policies. The Risk and Compliance Officer will be based in Dublin, Ireland.
In this role you will:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance frameworks for the ManCo and its branches, ensuring alignment with EU Regulations and other regulatory regimes as necessary.
- Staying updated on regulatory requirements from the Central Bank of Ireland and other relevant bodies, advising senior management and business units on their impact and implementation, and participating in Industry Associations.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures in line with EU regulations.
- Supporting regulatory submissions for the Central Bank of Ireland and managing regulatory interactions under senior compliance staff supervision.
- Overseeing the compliance monitoring plan (CMP) for the ManCo and its managed funds, including UCITS and AIFs.
- Identifying, assessing, and monitoring operational, regulatory, and reputational risks, as well as maintaining and updating the risk and control register.
- Identifying, assessing, and reporting compliance risks and breaches, and following up on remediation actions.
- Reviewing investment risk reports on market, counterparty, and liquidity risks related to UAE-managed funds, and enhancing oversight of the UAE Investment Advisor (IA) and monitoring performed in HIFL in terms of risk management.
- Preparing and presenting risk and compliance reports to the Board of Directors, Conducting Officers, and regulators.
- Participating in internal committees and working groups, supporting internal and external audits, and delivering compliance-related training to staff to foster a culture of compliance.
You should apply if you have:
- University degree in Law, Business, Finance or related field, ideally supported by a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA, CAMS, FRM or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of UCITS, AIFMD and relevant EU and local regulations.
- Good technical skills in financial risk management (e.g. VaR models, VaR back testing, stress testing, leverage, liquidity risk measures) and financial instruments.
- Experience in developing and implementing compliance monitoring programs.
- Proven experience with cross-border compliance, ideally covering EU Regulations, Luxembourg, Ireland, and/or United Arabs Emirates (UAE).
- Proficiency in English and another European language would be preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure whilst adhering to tight deadlines with strong teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work independently and collaboratively across jurisdictions with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
