We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Risk Screening Checker

Negative News Screening sits within Screening Utility Operations. The objective of NNS is to provide CMB, GBM and RBWM & clients with a globally consistent, and best in class Negative News Screening process. It ensures that screening is performed in accordance with Group and Regulatory Policy, obtaining documents as required from the client/ relationship manager, undertake all the necessary due diligence checks and ensure appropriate escalation is followed according to Policy. The NNS CoE is supported GSC centers in Bangalore, Guangzhou, Krakow, Mexico, Argentina & Egypt.

In line with our ambition to be the world's leading international bank, HSBC has committed to develop the highest or most effective standards for Financial Crime Compliance and deploy them globally on a consistent basis.  The Global Sanctions Policy mandates that all customers are screened at on boarding and periodic intervals, following changes to customer information and when the Official Lists and other applicable Local Lists are updated. Automated or manual screening is conducted using HSBC’s mandated automated customer screening solution which generates alerts for investigation, verification, and follow-up as necessary.

Role Dimensions

  • Review customer profiles to identify possible patterns of money laundering and terrorist financing activity, ensuring compliance with applicable internal policies and procedures and external regulations.
  • Review and analyze transactional activity for suspicious/unusual patterns of activity utilizing various internal systems, reports and external data sources.
  • Conclude whether further investigation is warranted based on a reasonable assessment of information obtained.
  • Review, collect and transmit supporting details to the Manager upon conclusion of review.
  • Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and practices, report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
  • Follow appropriate escalation matrix and proactively highlight questionable profiles based on logical reasoning against text-book approach towards procedures.
  • Keep current with understanding of systems, policies, procedures, and México regulations.
  • Provide a supporting role to onshore business partners. Assist in reviewing alerts and provide support on all AML and KYC monitoring functions performed by Global CDD.
  • Work on short-term projects/assignments with primary focus on quality.  
Requisitos

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or with equivalent industry/functional experience.
  • Computer literate and ability to work on basic applications like MS Excel, MS Word and Lotus Notes.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to change along with changes in corporate and department objectives in addition to recommending changes to assist in meeting these objectives.
  • Ability to balance quality and quantity (volumes) with primary focus on quality.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving and changing priorities. Procedures change frequently; selected candidates are expected to implement the changes immediately with minimal training.
  • Is self-motivated, pragmatic (sense of urgency is a must).
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs.

Additional Information / Specific Skills (If Any):

  • Previous experience in working for AML/KYC teams is desirable.
  • Strong customer service mindset or sales orientations.
  • Ability to speak and understand and English fluently (as applicable), write business letters and reports, and have good conversational / telephone skills.
