HSBC is looking for a candidate to join the America’s Prime Finance Business as a Securities Lending Trader based in New York.
As our Securities Loan Trader you will:
- Stock Loan Trader for the America’s Prime Finance business
- Trading US equities, providing market colour for internal desks (especially Prime Sales) and direct to clients on borrow rates and availability, covering internal and Arranged Financing customer short positions
- Generating revenue on the firm and customer inventory, developing new revenue streams & trading strategies wherever possible
- Monitor and process customer locates from Internal and external clients including the creation and publishing of ‘Availability” and “Axe” files on a daily basis in a timely and efficient manner, escalating any concerns accordingly
- Responsible for calculating, tracking and reporting P/L on a daily basis
- Process trades/ returns in a competent, efficient and accurate manner
- Communicate with other trading teams to ensure trades & projects are dealt with in a timely and controlled manner, escalating concerns accordingly
- Ensuring business is conducted within the firms risk appetite and that financial resource usage is optimized
- Monitor and process recalls on a daily basis in a timely and efficient manner, escalating any concerns accordingly
- Pro-actively seek out the opportunity to implement procedural improvements to help streamline the business
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $175,000.00 and $200,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Relevant background of experience in Equity Finance with industry knowledge of Equity markets, front office exposure for +5 years with proven trading track record
- Experience of relevant trading strategies across various markets
- Highly capable individual with an exceptional work ethic.
- A thorough understanding of the business objectives whilst maintaining a strong control ethic and consistently progressing the controls and procedures on the desk to better support the evolving business
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject
- FINRA registered, Series 7, 63
- Candidate will need to complete training and exams for the CISI FCA UK exams in a timely manner
- Python coding skills would be a plus
- Strong interpersonal and numerical skills Excellent Excel and Bloomberg skills
