The Senior Equity Portfolio Manager is responsible for the ongoing management of the US equity portfolios in the proposition, including delivering strong investment performance and effectively managing risk. This also includes managing the team of Project Managers and analysts that support the various strategies offered.  

This position requires a strong domain expertise in US equity research and portfolio management, including strong equity portfolio management and investment research with a tangible and successful performance track record. 

The role is expected to collaborate and share with equity portfolio managers and research analysts, responsible investment experts and other internal stakeholders, and supporting the commercial success.

As our Senior Equity Portfolio Manager you will:

  • Follow team established investment philosophy and processes in security selection and portfolio construction

  • Evaluate and optimize portfolios to improve returns and manage risk

  • Monitor portfolios for necessary adjustments, rebalancing assets based on market movements, cash flows, and performance deviations

  • Utilize financial models and analytics tools to generate insights, supporting data-driven decision-making

  • Conduct regular reviews of portfolio performance and risk metrics

  • Participate and communicate high conviction portfolio holdings with equity peers and other stakeholders

  • Contribute toward developing best practices in equity research and portfolio management 

  • Develop a multi-year business plan together with product specialists and marketing

  • Develop a strong narrative for investment strategies 

  • Participate in internal and external client events

  • Present investment strategies, performance, and market outlook with internal and external clients

  • Support and oversight of the end-to-end derivatives process e.g. Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, etc

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing investment team, foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

  • Provide strategic direction and support to portfolio managers, analysts, and traders

  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization

  • Contribute to improved and efficient operational controls and processes

  • Ensure all investment activities comply with OCC Regulation 9, including fiduciary responsibilities and prudent investment management

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure the investment team adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements

  • Prepare and oversee regulatory communications and audits as required

  • Manage balance between investment returns and risks

  • Prioritize deliverables effectively considering evolving demands and occasional resourcing constraints

  • Work with stakeholders to drive portfolio outcome consistency

  • Ensure all trading activities comply with internal policies and regulatory guidelines

  • Establish and maintain robust risk management practices to identify, assess, and mitigate investment and non-financial risks

  • Ensure compliance with OCC Regulation 9 and other relevant regulatory requirements

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of risk control measures and procedures

  • Adhere to processes and controls to identify and mitigate risks and ensure timely escalation of control issues and reputation risks

  • Leadership on regulatory and compliance matters

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $220,000.00 and $280,000.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requisitos

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Post graduate degree in finance, economics, or relevant field

  • Strong experience with a proven track record managing US equity portfolios

  • Expertise, experience, and motivation to develop high conviction investment cases

  • Experience with portfolio management tools

  • Familiarity with private client portfolio management principles, high conviction with a focus on quality companies, generating dividend income, preservation of wealth, outperformance of benchmark considering absolute returns, etc

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional community, with a variety of stakeholders, activities, systems, and processes 

  • Able to articulate complex techniques in an engaging way for clients and external or internal stakeholders effectively 

  • Proactive, highly motivated, organized, and disciplined in managing multiple workflows

  • Positive and proactive attitude with flexibility to accommodate changing environment and willingness to take on new responsibilities. Strong communication, analytical, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills
