In general, the individual shall be able to provide expert and professional legal advice, guidance and support to ensure that the legal and reputational risk faced by the country are identified, reported and mitigated.

 

The candidate for this role will be expected to

  • Understand the key aspects of Corporate and Institutional Business (“CIB”) and provide legal support and clear, commercial, risk-mitigated advice to the business to CIB business in Brazil, including but not limited to Markets Securities Services, Global Trade and Receivables Finance and Global Payments Solutions, particularly in relation to the new initiatives, such new products or projects related to RTB (run the bank);
  • Provide legal support to Procurement for any aspects related to legal risks on vendor agreements and Litigation;
  • Provide day-to-day support to global and regional teams of Legal, act as trusted partner of the business, write policies and procedures and provide executive guidance, including holding presentations to the Exco and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Provide guidance to support HBBZ’s growth initiatives including Global or Regional projects/ propositions;
  • Internal clients will be executives in the business areas and functions for which the candidate is responsible. The individual will be able to establish close mutually supportive working relationships with other members of Legal team and the wider Legal Function globally and regionally;
  • Represent Legal Function on the Legislative and Regulatory Committee, tracking and monitoring any new laws and regulations that impact HBBZ activities;
  • Represent Legal Function on the Business Continuity Committee of MSS;
  • Champion and reference for CIB Business and Procurement in Legal, contributing to the Monthly report to LAM region and perform other steward roles required by Legal Policy;
Requisitos

·       Bachelor’s Degree in law and enrolled in the Brazilian Bar Association with at least 8 years of relevant post qualification experience in the Brazilian banking industry working in Legal Department.

  • Fluent Portuguese and English is mandatory, Spanish is not essential but is helpful for the role;
  • General banking experience is required with a solid understanding of banking business, cross border loan documentation and principles of lending and taking security in Brazil;
  • Master’s degree or LLM from qualified institutions or international work experience a plus.
  • Able to provide clear, commercial, risk-mitigated advice to the business and functions;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of developments affecting the industry;
  • Able to handle a diverse range of issues;
  • Self-learner, Self-starter, independent with good organisational skills and ability to prioritise, sequencing and triage;
  • Stamina and ability to work under pressure and to compressed timescales, and ability to adapt working styles to meet complex and varied workloads;
  • Lateral thinking/problem solving in an open and connected manner;
  • Ability to prioritise workloads in terms of legal risk and commercial consideration;
  • Solution-oriented individual who is mentally agile and open-minded to multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural issues;
