Our ambition is to establish UAE as a Wealth Hub for the region for HSBC with a multi-year investment over the next 5 years, serving the full client continuum. The investment will enable IWPB UAE to develop a competitive product suite, best-in-class digital offering and doubling the number of relationship managers and introducing investment counsellors and Foreign Exchange (FX) advisors. The role will be responsible to facilitate the delivery and distribution of Alternatives (Alts), Discretionary Mandates (DPM) and Funds. The role holder will be responsible for the sales and marketing through permanent contacts and interactions with all front office staffs in line with the local regulation, compliance and Suitability Questionnaire (SQ) rules
In this role, you will:
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Alts, DPM and Funds within the UAE business, working both proactively and reactively with Investment Counsellors (ICs) and Relationship Managers (RMs) on all aspects of the business, including the development of an effective Funds Advisory service, improve Discretionary solution knowledge , educate the frontline on alternative investment platforms, including hedge funds advisory, fund of hedge funds, liquid alternatives, single line hedge funds, private equity and real estate funds and mandates
• Participate in bilateral engagement with third party fund houses, coordinating timely receipt and compilation of all fund-related materials, and organizing fund manager speaker sessions and events
• Facilitate the delivery and distribution of the discretionary offering through permanent contacts
• Deliver quality before and after-market sales assistance to RMs, ICs, current clients and prospective clients through meetings and conference calls.
• Identify funds that provide appropriate product solutions to “in-house” Strategic and Thematic views, driving the process from inception to recommendation stage.
• Lead efforts to integrate alternative investment themes and ideas into regular sales meetings and presentations within the teams
• Provide professional sales and marketing support for RMs and ICs, as well as developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of products support collateral
• Write monthly discretionary newsletter and provide ad hoc timely market commentaries on portfolio positioning/investment choices in the context of significant market events or price fluctuations.
• Ensure that all updates to funds’ recommended status are quickly and clearly communicated to the front office, to include where appropriate, lists of all client holders of funds for front office notification
• Responsible for achieving the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) of the products
• To lead, track and monitor product initiatives and on-going pitches.
• To build and maintain a solid overview of our Assets Under Management (AUM) split by products, regions, RM/IC to be able to identify and address under penetrated areas appropriately.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
• Strong knowledge of the Alternatives, Discretionary Mandates and Funds industry, with experience in a similar role - either as an Investment Counsellor or Fund Product Specialist - within private banking or asset management environment
• Proven experience working alongside or in the capacity of Relationship Managers and Investment Counsellors
• Demonstrable and strong leadership and effective people management capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision
• Graduation degree is a must to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
