Their operational and functional teams around the world help HSBC’s Global Businesses to operate efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis. They also focus on controls and governance to reduce risk and protect the Group’s reputation.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Portfolio Risk Manager.

Principal Accountabilities
 
Impact on the Business
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis to optimize credit portfolios and strategies in order to maximize profit as well as controlling losses within AOP. Develop credit experiments using a ‘test and learn’ framework;
  • Ensure changes to credit policies/strategies are implemented in system accurately and timely;
  • Review and analyse existing business unit strategies and recommend new strategies as appropriate;
  • Support initiatives launched by business and supported by Risk as well as any other projects as required by Head of Credit Portfolio Management.

Customers / Stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships, adopting a joined up approach, to deliver business requirements at pace and with minimum conflict;
  • Maintain contact with stakeholders to identify and communicate business performance, status and potential risks;
  • Deliver processing efficiency & high levels of customer services.

Leadership & Teamwork
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert regarding credit decisioning to support the wider business transformation;
  • Coordinate with stakeholder/ASP in order to interpret data/reports and provide analyses for the development of scoring systems, limit assignment, profit models and decision systems across the portfolio credit life cycle;
  • Cooperate with other teams such as WPB, Digital, Operation, IT to ensure timely project delivery to maximize customer services without compromising credit standards;
  • Participate in all steps of analytical strategy assignments/credit risk projects.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and group compliance policy;
  • Timely implements system change / recommendations made by line manager / functional head; 
  • Ensure appropriate control of any new change impacting credit life cycle of our customers; monitor system implementation & enhancements (AAPS, HUB, SAS ID, etc.)
  • Constantly review, improve and challenge process efficiency / statu quo;
  • Participate in projects initiated by WPB Risk or other departments to enhance process / customer journey.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent problem solving ability
  • Excellent ability to process and analyse complex data to obtain insights through data analysis and MI;
  • Proven judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems
  • Proven experience delivering projects, participating in challenging project;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in related fields (previous experience in one of the following is desirable: retail/risk management/credit policy/approvals/credit operations/IT/data science);
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification, preferably in relation to Banking, Data Science, Analytics, IT ... 
  • Knowledge of retail lending products and the Vietnam lending environment;
  • Ability to confidently manage and support a diverse range of stakeholders (e.g. sales, product, underwriting team, risk, regional teams, IT, etc.);
  • Proficient in written and spoken English/Vietnamese;
  • Knowledge of programming language is preferred: SAS, Python, SQL;
  • Knowledge of data visualisation software is preferred: Tableau, Qlik;
  • An advantage to have extra-programming skills, basics of modelling (e.g. scorecards) and/or knowledge of lending systems.
