Wealth and Personal Banking is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Private Banking, to become one of the world’s largest global wealth managers with USD1.4 trillion in assets. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Accelerating Wealth Program, Premier Relationship Manager (2024 Intake).
Principal Responsibilities
Our Relationship Manager are trusted advisors to our clients. They are the face of HSBC, working with colleagues across the organisation to present products and solutions to meet their clients’ needs. They are skilled communicators who enjoy a sales role and work well under pressure. They pride themselves on high levels of service delivery and combine a keen interest in the financial markets with a desire to develop personal relationships. The principle responsibilities are:
- This is a client-facing role where professionalism, client focus and a broad understanding of the fundamentals of financial planning are critical to your success
- Working with your branch colleagues and direct teams, you’ll manage an active portfolio of Premier clients. You’ll regularly review your clients’ portfolios of financial products to ensure they are suitable to meet their needs and, by means of your proactive approach and ability to add value, secure their loyalty
- You’ll upgrade existing HSBC clients to Premier and acquire new ones by understanding their financial needs and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor. Looking for opportunities to conduct wealth reviews with clients and delivering wealth solutions as an adviser are amongst the key activities required to achieve your goals (in line with local regulatory requirements)
- You’ll meet your client’s financial requirements by working with internal business partners (where applicable) and consistently delivering high standards of service quality
- You’ll be accountable for the performance of your portfolio and will need to ensure it is effectively run managing to the Target Operating Model (TOM) as defined by HSBC Group
- You’ll refer any non-qualified business to other teams as appropriate, following proposition protocol
- You’ll ensure achievement of the business performance measures and plan (as defined by WPB)
- In delivering the business objectives you’ll maintain the levels of operational integrity required by HSBC Group, closely managing your individual and the collective performance of your wider team. You’ll create and maintain an environment and relationships where you and the wider Branch team maximise performance in achieving the WPB business objectives
You will need to demonstrate the following transferable skills required for the role:

Growth mindset is the belief of “not yet.” Through practice, overcoming challenges, and a focus on learning, goals can be obtained with a growth mindset
- Data Literacy (Level 3 – Intermediate): Ability to interpret, understand and communicate data as information
- Critical Thinking (Level 3 – Intermediate): Identifying how to break down complex problem or issue into smaller components, using right questioning techniques to identify root causes and arrive at solutions
- Design Thinking (Level 2 – Capable): Ways of thinking outside the box, for e.g. introducing new and innovative ideas to solve a problem or bring in efficiency
- Right to work in Hong Kong (based on where you are applying for the role)
- Fluency in English (Note: for Premier Relationship Manager roles in Hong Kong: English and Cantonese are required; Mandarin is desirable.)
