We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Post Trade Analyst.

Principal Responsibilities

Role Purpose

Securities Lending Operations is a dynamic department that works with partners across the HSBC Global Banking and Markets business to deliver Securities Lending solutions to clients.

In this role you will

  • Reporting to the Assistant VP of Securities Lending Operations, this role is new Post Trade role situated in Hong Kong, providing operational support for the HSBC Agency Securities Lending Trading desk. Acting as point of contact for both pre and post-settlement enquiries the Post Trade Analyst will have extensive interaction with the Securities Lending trading desks globally, including the Trading team based in Hong Kong and will be part of the wider Securities Lending Operations functions already in place in the UK, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangalore and the U.S. This role is within an already establishment team in HK that creates a follow the sun operational model. The role holder and his Line Manager are responsible for the securities lending trade lifecycle from point of execution, using internal and proprietary front and back office systems overseeing the timely and efficient delivery of securities on behalf of our clients. The HSBC Agency Securities Lending business has access to a significant global asset pool from which it generates a valuable revenue stream for its clients
  • The Post Trade Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that HSBC and our clients are risk protected by remaining fully collateralised in line with HSBC and client stipulated mandates and by overseeing the timely settlement of new lending positions, their recall when sold and subsequent return. A proportion of duties will centre around the oversight and escalation of queries from our team based in Kuala Lumpur, which includes management of securities lending transactions including recalls to cover client sales and mitigation of buy-in’s. In addition, the analyst will be tasked with engaging in strategic initiatives, collaboration with multiple teams across the wider custody groups and to help identity / resolve operational efficiencies within the team
  • To ensure that the Agency Securities Lending clients have been fully covered with acceptable and appropriately priced collateral and that all securities held are within the parameters set by HSBC
  • Oversight / Escalation contact of the recall process to cover client sales and the mitigation of failed transactions and buy-ins. To build good working relationships with our counterparts and monitor their performance. Arrange regular reviews and use example-based feedback to address any examples of poor borrower performance
  • To understand the current and future regulatory environment and apply those requirements to our processes. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, legal, audit, bank and group requirements
  • To play a key role in exception management and conducting exception analysis to identify trends and participate in enhancements in an effort to reduce exception levels
  • To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business taking account of any changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management re-structures and the impact of new technology
  • The role holder must be able to coordinate comfortably with multiple desks and people and be able to quickly learn new systems and processes. The ability to manage departmental projects is also preferred. To identify and fully contribute to any operational improvement initiatives in areas such as IT and Control
Requirements

To be successful you will

  • Prior trade management experience, particularly in APAC markets, global markets is preferred
  • Prior experience in a global custody / prime broker environment, preferably within securities financing with a strong understanding of operational risk
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and manage priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly (and or experience of Pirum, Global 1, Trading Apps, GCS/GHSS (Internal Custody Systems). Strong MS Office skills (a high competency level of  MS Excel and Access is desirable)
  • Prior exposure to cash and non-cash collateral transactions both bilateral and Triparty preferred
  • Understanding of and ability to work within an evolving regulatory landscape
