We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Principal Engineer, Networking.

 As a Principal Networking Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. You will provide expert guidance and mentorship to the networking teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and driving the design and architecture of complex systems. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers and cross-functional teams to define project goals, requirements, and timelines. As a mentor, you will nurture the professional growth of team members and foster a culture of continuous learning. You'll be instrumental in problem-solving, making critical technical decisions, and proposing innovative solutions to challenging technical issues. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in network automation, applying and evangelizing best practices, and evaluating emerging technologies to improve network availability, traffic, performance, and security.

Principal responsibilities

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

  • Extensive Networking Experience: In depth knowledge of base networking technologies including, TCP/IP, subnetting, gateways, DNS, how networking components work in the OSI model (L4 versus L7), routing, switching, network protocols and trunking.
  • Strong Technical Background: Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols, like BGP, spanning tree, and VLANs.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and inspire multiple teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing networking projects, including planning, resource allocation, and project delivery.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical challenges effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, continuously improving technical expertise.
  • Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to make critical technical decisions and trade-offs while considering project constraints and business objectives.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Requirements:

Technical skills:

  • Network equipment: Experience configuring and managing network equipment, preferably using CLI tools.
  • Data Center Technology: Strong knowledge of networking data center technology including spine-leaf architecture and Data Center interconnects.
  • On-prem and Cloud Networking: Deep understanding of Cloud networking technologies including VPC’s, virtual networking, and security groups as well as how on-prem connects to Cloud Service Providers, including, direct connect, VPNs, and proxy servers.
  • Load Balancers: Strong understanding of on-prem and Cloud load balancers and how they are implemented for different workloads.
  • Automation: Ability to lead the automation of networking, including provisioning, repetitive tasks, common toil, and configuration management.
  • Network Performance: Strong understanding of how to optimize performance, fine-tuning network components to provide a robust and reliable experience for stakeholders.
  • Network Security: Experience in dealing with network security including firewalls, IDP/IDS, encryption, and VPNs.
  • Traffic Management: Ability to understand traffic trends to forecast future network growth.
  • Traffic Analysis: Experience in network traffic analysis including performance, application traffic, security, and QoS.
  • Documentation: Ability to create documentation that is accurate and up to date, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Monitoring: Experience in creating dashboards and reports on network performance, security, traffic patterns, and incidents.
  • APIs: Familiarity in designing and implementing robust and maintainable APIs.
  • Compliance: Strong knowledge of network compliance including any regulatory requirements for security and data privacy.

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.

Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
