The Senior Consultant Specialist job is responsible for delivery of technology solutions across multiple platforms for US Data and Enterprise Reporting within Enterprise Technology – Foundations Technology.
As our Senior Consultant Specialist you will:
- Work as a senior consultant specialist to design, develop and implement systems
- Oversee implementations of medium to high risk adhering to all risk controls
- Manage tasks for the delivery team using Agile methodology
- Meet regularly with business and IT stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood, while assessing the impact to our applications and services
- Provide technical support for varied technologies, architectures and related projects
- Coordinate and completes projects according to plan
- Lead the Engineering Excellence objectives and standards
- Apply technology to business issues to increase revenue, avoid cost, improve service and achieve goals
- The consultant specialist job family includes all functions supporting applications systems including applications development, business analysis, research and development, and systems integration for business systems.
This role will carry out some or all of the following activities:
- Provide support across the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, utilising skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities with the ability to move between these according to demand
- End-to-end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey
- Liaise with other engineers, architects and business stakeholders, to understand and drive the product or service's direction
- Create technical test plans and records, including unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality
- Provide support to DevOps teams working at all stages of a product or service release/change with a strong customer focus and end-to-end journeys, ensuring they have an excellent domain knowledge
- Working with Ops, Dev and Test Engineers to ensure operational issues (performance, operator intervention, alerting, design defect related issues, etc.) are identified and addressed at all stages of a product or service release/change
- Provide support in identification and resolution of all incidents associated with the IT service, as directed by leadership of the DevOps team
- Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered
- Responsible for automating the continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline within a DevOps Product/Service team driving a culture of continuous improvement
- Keep up-to-date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable
- Take ownership of the US Regulatory Reporting application with its development, maintenance, and production support
- Influence the project approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the project plan, commitments and changes relating to Wholesale Credit Risk and customer default data management
- Responsible for adhering to US Regulations relating to Dodd Frank, Basel 3, CCAR, RWA, and Regulation W
- Establishing effective project controls, procedures and quality assurance processes
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Reporting progress, issues, dependencies and risks to project or programme leadership and committees (as appropriate) and making recommendations to influence decision making, in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realization
- Leading the team to meet performance targets aligned to objectives
- Risks and Issues identification and tracking
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $131,900.00 and $197,800.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- Extensive experience managing IT development teams and IT projects
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the US Regulatory Reporting domain and Wholesale Credit Risk is a must
- In-depth knowledge of implementing software utilizing methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall
- Strong knowledge and experience with US Regulations including CCAR, Basel 3, Dodd Frank, RWA, and Regulation W
- Strong expertise with Application production support and ITSM processes
- Strong Cloud application development experience, both internal and external hosting is a must
- Strong background in as Spark, and Python development. Genome tool experience is a plus
- Strong background in SQL development
- Application monitoring tool experience such as Splunk, AppD, and Hawk-Eye, and production support tools such as JupyterHUB
- Experience with multi-platform applications, including Mainframe, ETL(DataStage), Spark Edge, Thrift, Postgres, and API technology
- Knowledge of AI tools, such as Copilot, and applied to various use cases
- Knowledge with data model development
- Knowledge with container development such as Kubernetes
- Have led teams across broad technical, financial, and business disciplines. Successful delivery of business objectives, tracking progress to ensure project milestones were completed on time, on budget and with the desired results
- Responsible for adherence to the IT Controls for the application
- Experience creating detailed Project Road maps, plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures
- Experience managing change, including risk assessment and risk controls. Addressing audit reviews of the change process
- Experience managing financial budgets across multiple projects. This requires management of reporting actuals, forecasts and budget variance
- Strong senior management reporting skills with the ability to report to multiple forums in various formats, such as Confluence, Clarity, JIRA, as well as publishing presentations
Minimum degree requirement:
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
- Master’s degree in the acceptable fields of study a plus
