We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director Software Engineering.

Principal responsibilities

  • Oversee project and development activities, provide leadership on both functional and technical level. Be hands-on whenever necessary.
  • Functionally Lead the Pods and ensure the solution design and deliverables address performance requirements and scalability, availability, security challenges etc.
  • Liaise with relevant business areas, IT teams and other functions to ensure that delivery requirement and scope is captured and understood properly.
  • Track and record software delivery progress and resolve any risks and issues; communicate effectively to business partners, global and regional functional leads.
  • Support the team on a daily basis, ensuring that appropriate escalation and communication channels are in place.
  • Work closely with Global and local stakeholders to support functions to ensure service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
  • Contribute to the execution of International strategy, especially architecture, DevOps, workforce transformation and Location Strategy, promote Agile working practices throughout the team.
  • Develop employee knowledge and engineering skills in specific areas of expertise, in response to International technology and business strategy.  
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on mobile application development and engineering leadership.
  • Proficient in mobile development frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter, iOS, Android) and a solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and microservices architecture, with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Familiarity with agile software delivery practices and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • HSBC platform HUB working experience is a plus.
